I figured if I asked this here, I might not get flamed. (Some people on this site are sooooooooooo testy...)

When someone replies to a post with "bump", what does that mean?

Thank you in advance for your patience, understanding, and support.

As people post in threads, the threads with no new posts fall lower in the rotation each time you log in. For example, if no one added to a thread for five days, it would be further down the list than a thread that was posted to yesterday.

Hence, to get attention to a thread, you enter "BUMP" and it moves that thread to the top of the pile. That's its only purpose ... to move the thread to the top, as most people only pay attention to "new" posts.

    Hope that helps ...

BTW we'd rather not have people bump. If a thread is usefull/popular it stays on top on its own, or we can make it 'sticky'.

If you think a thread might go out of focus but feel it shouldnt please contact a mod so he can make it sticky instead of bumping it..

I will say that I did ask to have a thread moved back to its original Forum and they did comply ... so I think they (the mods) are very flexible.

If you have a problem that no one addresses, and feel the urge to bump, why not put some additional information in there? That would serve everyone by making the posts more informative and bumping your post.
