    Proper English that is! May also be handy for non-British Europeans who use Americanisms (I've noticed). Don't take it as either comprehensive or gospel, there are a few things I don't agree with, but it's pretty accurate on the whole.

    I don't believe British English is more formal really, we just use words the Americans consider antiquated - like ought. However Americans use words I'd consider antiquated, like gotten.
