This is a forum run by volunteers FOR US, in my mind they can do pretty much whatever they want. That said they have been more than tolerant with some of the posters here...just my two cents

Regarding, specifically WHAT triggored me to want to close the F911 thread:

In the F911 thread, Woof you said,

That one post, pushed things over the edge for me. Sure I could delete your post, censure you, but the built up anxiety and frustration that caused that post still exists in that thread. I close the thread, and people when they post later think a bit more before they post.

That wasn't the only "bad" post, earlier cellmatrix said
and even earlier, cluup said (and woof also responded as rudely)

The F911 thread had to much junk in it for it to be a worthwhile thread on TreoCentral. As I said before, you're welcome to start a new thread, with perhaps some more constructive criticism.

Whew, was I a jerk or what. I got frustrated because Toolkit wouldnt respond to specifics. Thats no excuse though. Miradu you were right to shut me down.

Toolkit, I offer my sincerest apologies. I stepped over the line. I would also like to apologize to everyone else. Disagreeing doesnt mean I have to be a jerk. Sorry folks.

Miradu thanks for reopenning the wifebeater thread.

Wrong, a mod can discuss any item like a regular person and should get the same respect as a regular user.
However when he puts on his mod-hat (so to speak) you should respect the authority given to him. I allways make it very clear when I'm wearing which hat. And I try to let the other mods moderate threads I am discussing in so there is no conflict of interest...

You are right that the personal opinions of a mod are no more important that anybody else's.
I did say something about culups stupid remark: "As for the stupid remark, that could have been said a bit better I agree" but you are right I could have been a bit stronger on that...
However he did not have a history of abuse like you do..

Is that how a mod is supposed to use their power? To squelch dissenting opinions? I for one dont think that is fair..
As mentioned before, that was a wrong call and miradu has fixed his error in judgement.
Normally we close threads with only the justification of why it is being closed.
But please remember mods are only human too, so we do make mistakes..

I dont mean actual words cause I know the system blanks them automatically. .
Off topic is meant for that, anything off topic. Discussions like these are allowed as long as they stay civil.
As for words that are allowed or not, if you have to use tricks to prevent a word being blanked out you should pick up the clue and not use words like that.
This forum is open for all treo users of all ages, so please dont use any language that would shame your (grand)mother.
Use your common sense and be polite, using swear words does not make your case stronger..au contraire..

All polite/respectfull opinions are welcome, and if you can act that way you are more then welcome to keep discussing issues.

History of abuse. I like that one.

I find this comment about Woof extremely offensive. This comes off sounding like your personal opinion of the man.
Computers will ALWAYS lack a personal touch; and as stated prior, two people can say the exact same thing and interpret each other differently. Personally I enjoy reading what Woof has to say....

Yes that is the risk of fora on the internet, that also is why there are smillies.
Also namecalling is pretty clear, that is offensive/abusive and will not be tolerated, end of story.

If you look back at my posts I was trying to be civil here.
  18. #38
I think I'll just stick to talking about something we all agree on............ the treo.
  19. #39
yeah, many times I think sticking with treo talk may be the wisest choice here. I was the other poster in some threads with woof who at times got a little animated and sharp myself. I also get quite heated up over issues but I was definitely wrong by taking some of my attacks a little to far.... one with peter brown to whom I apologize for.

let me just say that I have seen where I've jumped the gun in the past here and acknowledge that its best to say things with some patience and restraint. differing perspectives are valuable resources, not always opponents to quarrel with. so let's move forward and put the past behind us. by the way, one day late, but happy 4th everybody.

It's really unfortunate that it is not possible to have a lively discussion without having to worry about making everyone else feel bad. Not everyone is always diplomatic in their delivery. I am just one of many that fits that description. It would be great if people werent so thin skinned and could focus more on the content of the discusion than on the delivery.

I for one like to say whats on my mind. My method of discussion is not designed to attack anyone, it's just they way I convey my thoughts. If I think something is stupid, I am going to say so. I dont believe in sugarcoating. Like they say if you cant stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

But then this is not my forum and I cant say whatever I like.

Honestly now I am a little bit afraid to post for fear I might say something to **** some one off. I wrote this one three times before I thought it would pass mod muster. Thats pretty sad IMHO.
