12 inches?
Can you show how you have arrived to 12?.....
I didn't say 12 inches, it is just 12 (unspecified units). Why do you always think of 12 inches?
The problem can be solved by sequentially using using Pytagoras' theorem, Euklid's theorem, and the altitude theorem. Or - and this way is the fastest - Google's search algorithm.
So, ready to send the prize?

neat - answer to 2nd one is shapes aren't quite triangles as the long side bends out/in a bit
Sizes and shapes are exactly the same. They have been rearranged. The yellow triangle has been slid to the left, the red triangle has been moved to the top and the dk green triangle has been moved to the left.
These changes create the hole illustrated.
Send my prize, please.
Of course, since I have about 8 prizes on account with you ... I won't hold my breath.
