Tell you not to pick at your teeth with any sharp metal objects. Then you sit in their chair, and the dentist pulls out a little iron hook.

Then the dentist pulls out a needle... this is to deaden the pain...

    Bill Cosby

Since Off-Topic is basically like facebook, here we go...

Today I went to the dentist for the first time in 7 years. I went now because my wife set up the appointment for me. I haven't gone for so long mainly because my teeth don't hurt and I don't care for dentists.

The results are in... no cavities, and I have the gums of a Greek god.

    Eat that, establishment....

i didnt go for 10 years after high school, including the years of "nourishment" at college, and only had 1 cavity. Yeah, every 6 mos is a bit much if you actually brush, etc.

My childhood dentist had Bill Cosby dentist routine on headphones while he worked - it made for a few stoppages of work due to laughter!
    I see pandas.

I didn't go once for 6 years, and didn't have any either.
Then I suddenly had 1, and ignored it for a few years. Went to another dentist; it had disappeared.

    Conclusion: dentists cause cavities.

Its great that you were lucky to get thru this, you must have some good regular dental habits combined with good DNA. But in reality a great many people who don't go to the dentist for years are the ones who eventually will be wearing dentures.

I know that you normally like to promote healthy activities pogey, like your message to not drink and drive during the holidays. That was a great thing to do. But bragging about how cool it is to not go to the dentist for so many years and not having any problems, does not strike me as the type of public service message a moderator ought to be sending to his readers.

    Anyway, thats my opinion.

My comedic timing is definitely off, seeing that I haven't been in Off-Topic land for a while.

    I will work on it.

I am and always have been for dental hygene. Brush with a soft bristle toothbrush and floss daily. Be sure to use a mouthwash to kill all the bad bacteria before you go to sleep to prevent periodontal disease and gingivitis.

If you are a mouth breather, you will likely get bleeding gums. It is important to keep an eye on that. Also, if your TMJ is out of wack, you may want a splint or mouth gaurd to hopefully correct it before you have to have surgery.

    How was that?

Hmm... Very pixelated. You may want to consider HD teeth. Ask your dentist about it.

Some people have no sense of humour.

There are also those in this world that have bad teeth, through no fault of their own and will end up with dentures, anyway.

    much better!
I did not realize you were joking when you posted this comment, I really thought you were serious. No need to apologize about comedic sense to me, I am too obviously oblivious of it to be any sort of critic!

and unfortunately, I am one of those mouth breathers you speak of, and you are right it does increase gum irritation and bleeding.
