Ok, you guys. You've seen these threads, and know the drill. Give this one some thought. If you were (insert highly improbable and supposedly inescapable situation here), and could only take 10 albums (or cd's or tapes or [for you dbd] 8 tracks), what would they be?

Rules: Only 10 please, and only 1 per artist. Boxed sets or compilations are allowed as long as you correctly name them (you can't just say "all of so-and-so's greatest hits").

    Ok, here's mine:

Led Zeppelin: The Complete Studio Recordings - Led Zeppelin
This is the Moody Blues - The Moody Blues
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
    The Black Album - Metallica
    Decade - Neil Young
    Back in Black - AC/DC
    Greatest Hits - Tom Petty
Greatest Hits - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
    The Beatles Box Set (2009)
    2112 - Rush

    Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Adam Freeland Global Underground: Mexico City (2-disc set)
Guns 'N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction

That was tough narrowing down to 10 cd's. If you asked me tomorrow, I might give a different answer, but that's my answer for today

I had the same thought. It might be interesting to wait a few days and repost a new list.

Sad person that I am, I wrote a script to come up with my favourite albums by rating in Winamp. They appear to be:

Pink Floyd/Dark Side of the Moon
    Pink Floyd/Ummagumma - Live Album
    The B-52's/Wild Planet
    Steve Hillage/Fish Rising
    Portishead/Dummy
    Benjamin Britten/A Midsummer Night's Dream
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Requiem - Mass in D Minor (KV 626)
    The Mars Volta/Frances The Mute
    John Martyn/Inside Out
    Pink Floyd/Wish You Were Here

...which surprised me and probably shows how random my ratings are!

Today, I'd have to swap a DSotM, WYWH and the Steve Hillage one for some Metallica (probably Black), Iron Maiden (AMoLaD, Powerslave ot Edward the Great) and last but not least Rammstein/Liebe ist für alle da.

But on a different day, it would change.
