let's let google decide (pasted from mobile device):

chalupa -"taco bell" - Google Search

I had it omit any instance with taco bell (which a few snuck through) and yes indeed it seems your version of a chalupa is indeed a tostada. I'd have just asked for a few tortillas on the side and dumped it in :P

I think a chalupa is a southern thing, there is another difference, a chalupa has beans on it....... But its still just a flat taco.

Having spent 6 weeks in Mexico recently I am still holding out against Mexican food, having eaten a years worth.

Taco bell is often referred to as "just add water" since that's all they do in their "restaurants"

I'm with Verwon tho, soft taco's.

Burritos have refried beans, tacos don't.

I am heading out for Tex-Mex in a few minutes.

You've never heard of a bean-and-cheese taco? A bean-and-egg breakfast taco (yum!)? (That, and chorizo-and-egg are my favorites.)

That being said, let's hear it for breakfast tacos!

Doubt I'll be eating much Mexican food at all in the future, unless it's really mild.
