I know this is the off topic forum...but its a number counter anyways...so

This may sound newbie-ish but having one Pre and hacking to your hearts delight is one thing, owning 2 has a whole new meaning and challenges etc.

Since we both have Pres, then we should be able to sync them together to combine calendars etc correct? I am not sure that we can do ti wirelessly to each others devices but I think we can do it through outlook correct?

Not sure how that would work for contacts though since it is synergized. That would be cool if I could beam my contacts to her and vice versa to we have a copy on her phone, my phone and then both our cloud backups...that is like a quad backup solution just in case something happens.

What I did for my wife and I (and our Pre's) is set everything up in Google.

I set up my contacts in gmail and then exported/imported them to her gmail acct. Then I set up the Google calendar to sync between both Google accts. I also gave us edit ability in order to set up calendar events under each other's calendars. Then they are always synced to the calendar program.

    GOOD:
the wife's phone got crapped out this weekend...and when I called sprint about it they ended up going to the RTN menu and wiping her contacts!...so now paperweight. So she finally got a Palm Pre!!!

    BAD:
    Downside:
Now I have to wiat for my upgrade for a new Palm phone until 4/1/2011....DOH!!!!!! :

    Question:
I am still on the fence whether to back up contacts to Palm Profile or Google. I do mine to Palm and have had no problems, but what would you suggest?
I don't ever recommend the palm profile. I use outlook, and I prefair hotmail to google.

the palm profile isn't accessible from anywhere but your phone, so you shouldn't out anuthing in there, IMHO.

Same here. My wife loves it as I stopped asking her every 10 minutes about agenda ****.

Now if I can just get her to add her own calendar items, we would be set!

I use mine for medication reminders, so I don't forget when to take them and what I am taking at the given time. LOL

Well I set up a test scenario, and I believe the first is correct. If your contacts are set up in GMAIL then you ahve to delete them from GMAIL in order to get rid of them. You CAN delete them from the phone directly BUT everytime it syncs back up it will reappear.

Think I might just have me and her stick with Palm Profile and then use the Pre Backup Utility and the Export Contact list to vcard (if that is stil available).

Mine's never done that and I do almost everything from my phone. If I delete something, it's gone from google right away, including contacts.

Wow...going back to the caveman days huh...
Can't imagine any other smartphone without webOS, tried most all, and the Galaxy S models are probably the best of all others to webOS.
