    You have a very good point! We lost a much loved cat when my son was about six, someone had poisoned him. Driving home from the vet to tell my son that he wasn't coming home to play and cuddle anymore was a very hard thing to do!

    We've had to replace 4 fish so far (we must be doing something wrong...) and each time, we have a little memorial service and flush the thing down the toilet.

    Then we run to the pet store and buy another one that costs like $4.
