Also in post #48 (which includes a brief discussion of the contractions).

Wow, how did I forget this one? Great submission! I hear this incorrect usage daily...and it sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. Of course, when I hear it, the subjects are also frequently reversed...making it even worse.

    e.g.,

Me and Jonathan are going to the store.

More of pronunciation than misspelling, but....

Did you a $ $ your mom for it?

    or

Did you ask your mom for it?

    Another...

    I'm just a$$ing a question.

    or is it

    I'm just asking a question.

How about axing you a question? To me, that approach always seems like a violent way to get an answer.

To everyone who posts sans punction:
Can I just say that I am deeply troubled by you? I find your inability to be bothered to use punctuation to be terribly annoying. It makes me want to be very rude right in the middle of the thread, which would be quite uncool of me. It also makes you appear to be quite unintelligent, as if you can't understand the concept of a complete sentence. Finally, and perhaps worst of all, it makes it pretty difficult to read. Yes, I can decipher your post, but why make me decipher anything in the first place? Why not just provide the necessary punctuation? And DO NOT tell me it's because the post originates from the Pre. Palm provided a period key RIGHT NEXT TO THE SPACE BAR--it doesn't require any more effort than hitting any other key. Why not just leave out all the e's from your posts? That would make about as much sense!

    Sincerely,
Someone who is actually trying to understand what you are writing

I know what you mean jbg I hate when people dont use punctuation and have runon sentences and dont use paragraphing it really makes it hard to read its kind of like reading the writings of an attention deficit sufferer who is making everyone else suffer by dragging us along in his unfettered streams of thought I get that not everyone has to write for a living but everyone or most everyone went to school why cant they just write like they wrote in school or why cant they write like they read in newspaper or magazine articles its not only lazy its kind of inconsiderate like we dont have anything better to do than mentally insert the punctuation that you should have entered in the first place rude even so from now on I say that we have a subsection of forum moderator called forum grammar police who search out posts that abuse the english language and delete them before any of our fellow members are subjected to that frustration what do you think are you with me I mean yeah that can be just as annoying having someone constantly pointing out that youre not using the apostrophe in the correct place or that youre missing a serial comma but you have to draw the line somewhere you cant just have people dumping their thoughts into posts and expect everyone else to try to make sense of it now if we had some way of providing immediate feedback when people miss punctuation like a buzz or a shock even that would be very cool nothing like 110 volts through the fingertips to make you remember the difference between plural and possessive but i digress where way i oh yeah punctuation its good use it.

If you offer me candy, I will gladly accept it; except if it's black licorice. YUK!

Please accept my apologies if I've used the punctuation incorrectly.
