Ya it was a fun couple of days up here, I work in the print media, one of the largest community newspaper chains in North America. Saturday was fun, while in my youth, I can lay claim to protesting on a number of things, whaling, etc etc.. Never saw the need to get all violent and such. These wonderful Black Bloc tactics are funny, they led the local cops on a merry chase, until Sunday morning when they got caught. lol. What was really funny was the ones that spouted off American civil rights, lol, you aint in Kansas anymore Dorthy. The most ironic of it all was these young people smashing windows of some of Corporate Canadas fine outlets, Starbucks, etc etc,, while in the side pouch of the back pack was a bottle of Gatorade, another was wearing Bolle ski gogles. lolol ohhh the shame the shame, but these lil kids werent there to be Tea Party reps, they are anarchists, completley thru and thru. The mistake made on Saturday,, well the cops had several chances to bust most of em in a group.. they let em go.. not so on sunday lolol. Now, which one of you libertarians are planning on coming up here to bail out your ummmm helpers lol

it was the g8 and g20 up here in Huntsville then in Toronto.. lots of protesting, lots of windows broken, a number of police cruisers burned to the ground..
Saturday the cops were accused of doing not enough,, sunday morning they started the day off raiding the University of Toronto, and arresting a bunch of the Black Bloc people.. the cops then were accused of going over board.. loose loose for them.. Seems most of the ones arrested at the U of T, were not even students, many from preliminary reports were not canadian.. but thats still just a rumor. Ban?? huh.. my first post was tongue in cheek poking some fun at people to the south of me...lol

Most of the reports says these vandals were anarchists, not Tea party activists. Wrong end of the political spectrum...

How can you let this thread exist?

What if someone started a thread with the title 'American liberals rape 10 women and then eat their remains?' And then said it was just tongue in cheek. Neither happened, but here the OP had nothing to say, but just wanted to slander his enemies.

Also, if anything, it is liberals that oppose the G20. Conservatives generally support it. There's just so many things wrong with this thread.

I do have to say I love how the Right of center folks are now ALL grouped into the Ultra right Libertarian camp. I guess the left is learning from the far right who groups ALL Democrats into the Socialist camp

Don't you just love partisanship - it helps us solve our problems so much more efficiently than actually having rational debates on the issues I mean seriously, compromising is for losers!!!

You are right, Barye. I apologize. I have no record of such a quote. Others in these threads have asserted that they were racists, so I made a blunder and lumped you in with them as you seem to agree with them on many points.

Do I have you on record then that you do not think the Tea Party movement members are racist?

Hey it's partisanship that says these tactics are "tea party" when really they have LEFT of center origins.

ummmm how can it exist? at least i stated up front it was tongue in cheek. Unlike someone else who has posted far worse headlines, with no explanation what so ever. But wait, thats exactly what a certain person does here, posts headlines that are far worse then this.. nothing to say, well, in my country riots, attacks, destruction of property, assualts, on civilians, cops, and the press are news. If they arnt where you are from, then you have far bigger problems then this little post. My post here is current, yet, when this other certain someone who posts inflammatory threads about the same thing, nothing,,, wow.. hell now a days, anyone can call themselves a journalist, make up their own credentials, and demand the freedom of the press. By the way, the freedoms that are enjoyed by the press south of the border, are not the same up here in the Great White North.

to the other part of the thread, liberal and conservative, got some news for you, in my country I am considered a liberal, with some conservative leanings, and quite frankly like the whole g20/g8 meetings, not too thrilled about 1.3 billion on security, but over all,, like the whole idea.
By the way, I didnt slander my enemies, in fact i do not consider anyone here my enemy, I dont know them, we have some different view points, but that is needed hell required to have a healthy conversation/debate. Frankly I agree with a lot of what my "enemies" have to say. And have said so.

Micael -- I think you're confused by my repeated complaints regarding my being the victim of speciesism:

But as to your other question -- no I don't think racism is what energizes teabagggers, libertarians, LaRoucheys, Palinistas, or RPaulites.

I believe what animates these groups is ignorance, anger, confusion, and incomprehension. They are pathetically susceptible to the siren calls of articulate smooth talking charismatic snake oil salesmen like Beck, Rush, LaRouche, Palin, etc. etc.

These people are angry and scared -- and they often have good reasons to be angry and scared. But they are usually too uninformed as to the genuine often complex and indirect reasons for their plight -- and so gravitate to the snake oil purveyors like moths to flames.

These forces have long existed -- but mass communication and greed (faux) have greatly magnified the threat these forces represent.

    Their destructive potential is ginormous.
