So when I first read about the new "Karate Kid" movie, I was a little disappointed. It looked really cool, and I am definitely a Jackie Chan fan, but who does Karate in China? I mean, I can usually overlook factual inaccuracies if the movie is good, but this was too much.

Well, I read the actual plot, and now I want to see it again.

Young American transplant Dre Parker is bullied at his Beijing school, where his limited martial arts experience earns him the nickname "the Karate Kid." But Dre finds an unlikely mentor in Mr. Han, the school's janitor and secret Kung ** master. Initially resisting Han's unorthodox methods, Dre learns that facing one's opponents is more than a matter of matching blow for blow.

    Now I get it....

You got that right.... Sorry, even my hair is starting to hurt... what's left of it. Makes me cranky.

I actually appreciated the input. I may even see it now.

I try to see most Jackie Chan movies, but I was a little perplexed at how a Chinese guy was going to teach Japanese martial arts.

Miyagi wasn't Japanese. He was Okinawan.

Thanks pogeypre. I was a little worried about this movie, as well, since I liked the original. However, the plot makes more sense, now. Maybe it'll be good.

To make matters worst on the subject of Karate, the word "Kara" has two interpretations. Kara could mean "Chinese" or empty. Historians do know that Chinese visited Okinawa and that karate also used weapons like the sickle (the Japanese oppressors banned weapons from the Okinawans.)

ground - I will ground you into powder
shore - You shore are gonna get your **** handed to you.
earth - Why on earth do you think he taught me wax on wax off anyway?
smut - I will hit you so hard that all you will have left to do is watch smut on TV.
terra firma - Your head will land on terra firma with one chop.
