Next week will be my first time in Dallas. I have a business trip scheduled from Sunday to Thursday, and I need to find something to do. Strictly PG.

    Any thoughts?

It has been tempting, but with good ole 3g at home until later this summer, I will not be needing it till then. Also, I was hoping to avoid the computer as much as I can.

Oh man, Dallas is a huge city, the 4th biggest metro area in the US (after NYC, LA, and Chicago).
    There are lots of museums.
I recommend checking out the Brooklyn Jazz Cafe.
If you like Sea life, definitely check out Dallas Aquarium! And there's the 95 acre Dallas zoo.
And, if you like history, you can visit the JFK assassination site. (Dealey Plaza)
If you are flying in, call Dallas Yellow cab (214-426-6262), they will bring you anywhere you want to go, just tell them where!
    Enjoy your stay!
    I've been there twice.

Like fish? There is the Dallas World Aquarium near the West End, and there was another aquarium in Fair Park the last time I was there (edit: nevermind... closed for extensive rennovations). There's plenty to do around the West End near Dealy Plaza (which is much smaller than I thought it was...)

Last time I went to the Ft Worth stockyards I passed a sign that said there was a flight museum just north of there.. will have to look it up)

Make sure you squeeze in a trip to El Chico's for some excellent mexican food (at least it was last time I was there).

haven't been in a long while -- but my memory of it completely expresses what WC Fields wrote as his epitaph on his tombstone about his hometown, Philidelphia.(better here than Philadelphia).

Dallas was a wasteland constructed of Bailbondsmen and grungy parking lots.

The only thing more oppressiive than the late July heat that stuck to my flesh like jellied napalm, were the police -- who were stopping, ticketing, and arresting anything that moved -- or at least anything not in a late model car.

I asked the same question as you of the locals -- the only answer anyone had was the Dealy Plaza museum (which I passed on seeing).

The longest month of my life was the week I was marrooned in Dallas.

    The horror ...

I spent a couple of years in the Philippines... Dallas heat and humidity have nothing on them.

I am sorry that your experience was painfull, but I cannot just sit in my hotel room... I will go nuts.

Go for a run around White Rock Lake. Weather is Dallas is really nice this time of year. Quick train ride from downtown. Both the art museum and symphony are pretty good.

Lots of beautiful residential architecture (20's, 30's, 40's) in Lakewood, M-Streets, Highland Park if your into that sort of thing.

I haven't been to Dallas since 1992, but there are some good antique malls if you like that sort of thing.

    Medival Times is cool.

Rest is just the same as any other city. I live about 1.2 hours away myself so not much..though they do have some nice clubs...even PG clubs.

Usually when I'm in Dallas I'm trying to get from one end of DFW airport to the other to either catch my connecting flight or find out they've changed the departing gate for the third time.

Hope you can find something more pleasant to do there.

I was born is Dallas, and I too spent extended time in the Philippines (US Navy)... he's right. Dallas gets to BAKING around August. It's not far behind the PI.

BTW, Guam had the PI beat as far as sweltering and oppressive heat.
