Yes....guilty as charged....I have bashed Obama for using a teleprompter....for EVERY speech. Not just the important ones, but EVERY speech. And the reason I have bashed him for it is because he is painted by the "main stream media" as this very eloquent speaker. Well first, like all Presidents, they have speech writers, and second, he is a very good reader, not a speaker. I have given several speeches (absolutely hate it) like I'm sure most in here, but I used notes/note cards....no teleprompters...I actually have to remember what I'm going to say. Wow....I wish I had a teleprompter. Again....I will agree he is a FANTASTIC reader....really....the dude can read like no other Prez we've had in some time. But a great speaker? Please.

As for being a hypocrite...well....look in the mirror. You constantly defend Obama for using a teleprompter and then when Palin uses her palm for some key words, suddenly it is wrong? So...if I am a hypocrite....then I guess that makes you one as well?

ROFL....I am watching a show where Obama....using a teleprompter.....says several times "Corps Man"? ROFL. So, I have to take it back....not a great reader....just a good reader. OMG....if Bush had said that....geez. But no, it is fine when the eloquent Obama messes it up. Hypocrites.

Now you look at the Rep side, and you see guys like Mark Sanford still holding office and his actions being defended by his party.
Well....as for Sanford (my SC Gov!), not going to defend what he did and I am disappointed in him. But, if Clinton can get a BJ from a woman other than his wife in the Oval Office, and not be removed from office, and lie under oath about it, then I don't quite see why Sanford shouldn't still be holding office. He did lie, but it wasn't under oath that I'm aware of. Are you saying Clinton should have been kicked out of office? Really? As for Edwards....I really don't think any democrat can really defend the guy....I mean seriously, he was cheating on his wife while she was being treated for cancer. Oh....he also had a love child while his wife was being treated for cancer. Oh....and by the way....he did that while running for President. Oh....and by the way....he possibly paid her off with campaign funds. Really, you're surprised that no democrat has come to his rescue? Really?

The point I'm making is against those who have bashed Obama for supposedly using a teleprompter and are now defending Palin.
Kinda like saying bush's inability to express himself intelligently was defended by saying he's just an average guy like the rest of us, and then turn around and bash Obama because he hesitates with an 'uh' and tries to choose his words wisely.
I hate to use the word hypocrisy.

Either way, there's no shame in using notes.

Now, if she bashes Obama for using a teleprompter while using notes on her hand - that's hypocrisy at its finest.
I'm not even a huge Palin fan....but if you can't see the difference between reading an entire speech from a teleprompter, and glancing at some key words written on your hand (I agree, would have been better on a card or something), then really no reason to go further with this.

What is a corps man? ROFL By the way, I also laugh at Bush on his crazy pronunciations.

    You aren't a Palin fan?
I'm not an Obama fan by any means.

As I said earlier, When it comes to getting up before others and keeping your thoughts coherent, I don't blame anyone for using anything they have available.
Is it their thoughts? Is it what they want to say? Is it sincere?
Then I don't care if it's by manuscript or outline.

I think what daThomas is drawing attention to is she bashes Obama using a teleprompter while using a little school kids trick.

If she was trying to elevate her image before her Audience by by making fun of a Obama using a teleprompter - she just lowered my view of her - and I like Palin.

In all honesty, I don't notice most of any of these things others make fun of.
It's when a comedian spoofs on it, that I say; hey! that President/Politician does do that.

Even more than index cards, or crib notes, or telepromters, or whatever, the thing that kills me about every Palin speech/answer to a question/any time she talks, is that she rambles on and on without ever really directly answering the question. Yes, this is a typical political tactic that even the greatest of the greats have used, but she overuses it to the point of looking like an *****. And here she goes, in this video, stumbling for a sec after naming ONE of the THREE things that the interviewer asked for, looks at her hand, then starts to lose track of the topic at hand. This kind of behavior is the kind that lacks professionalism--like the time she was asked by Katie Couric about what she reads and she said "magazines" and couldn't/wouldn't name any (bad example maybe but it's the first that came to mind)--and I think the real reason this is on the news anywhere at all.

So all presidents before him have all had prepared speeches but Obama gets the brunt of your feeble sword because he uses a telepromter? Pretty sad excuse to bash a president you don't agree with. Please tell me, what do you see in these pictures..

TELEPROMPTERS!!! But she can't use them now because she has mocked Obama for using them so now she just comes off as an ignorant rube.

BTW She was caught using the notes during a "softball" q & a!!!

As for being a hypocrite...well....look in the mirror. You constantly defend Obama for using a teleprompter and then when Palin uses her palm for some key words, suddenly it is wrong? So...if I am a hypocrite....then I guess that makes you one as well?
Really? Please link me to one thread other than this one where I have defended him for using a teleprompter.

ROFL....I am watching a show where Obama....using a teleprompter.....says several times "Corps Man"? ROFL. So, I have to take it back....not a great reader....just a good reader. OMG....if Bush had said that....geez. But no, it is fine when the eloquent Obama messes it up. Hypocrites.
No one ever said he does not make mistakes, but god help me if I point out Palin did! (She does just about verytime she makes a speach though. I am sure you will claim the same about Obama yet lack proof.) "Oh but the media is so tough and unfair on Palin!" Yeah, because she f***s up softball questions like what magazines she reads and what founding father she most admires. She is ********!!! Oh, but don't say the R word or she will be out for your head.... unless you are Rush, he said it as "satire." Wasn't what Letterman said about Bristol also satire? ***!!! How can you inteligently defend an ***** like this? But oh, Obama is an *****, yet he was a constitutional law professor. And he is a "socialist tyrant" yet he is "not getting anything accomplished". Please look up the definition of "tyrant". They pretty much don't have a problem getting their agendas accomplished.

Should Clinton been fired for a BJ and lying about it? NO. Other than his family, who did it hurt? Should Sanford have been fired? YES! Why you may ask. He used the states money to facilitate his affair and he left his office for the weekend without reporting to anyone. What about Newt Gingrich? He did the the same as Sanford, although he left his sick wife while she was in the hospital, WHILE he was going after Clinton. Now he is some sort of Republican Yoda now even though he was kicked out of his office. So please, name ONE dem who is defending Edwards!!! Even MSNBC is bashing him. LMFAO NOBODY HAS BEEN DEFENDING HIM!!! And you call me a hypocrit...

The contrast daThomas was drawing wasn't the difference between using a teleprompter and scribbles on your hand (which is funny in itself).

Palin would of been better off using a teleprompter. Too late for that.

I really don't understand debates like this one. There are so many good reasons to support Palin, an so many good reasons not to support her. Just like every other political figure out there.

It seems like over the last decade or so, we've completely moved away from looking at the things that matter. Look at her political record. Decide if you like her or not, and stick to meaningful debate. Cheap shots like this don't help anyone. In fact, they are usually counter productive.

That teleprompter bit is a great example. I really don't like Obama's politics, but I find the fact that he's not good at giving speeches without a teleprompter* to be utterly irrelevant.

Adolf ****** was an AMAZING speaker who never needed note cards, prompters or any other sort of aid when delivering speeches. That doesn't mean I'd want a new ****** as president. The two simply have nothing to do with each other.

*On a side note, while I don't like his politics, I've started to like Obama as a person. Some of the things he has "accidentally" said off prompter, like calling Kanye West a *******, have been priceless.

Okay....will say this one more time and type it slowly. I am NOT against the use of teleprompters. My only point...again...read carefully here....is Obama is made out to be a great speaker and I simply say BS, he's a very good reader. These people who make him out to be a great speaker, in my opinion, are just blowing smoke (or smoking something). To me, a great speaker is one who can deliver a speech without having to rely on reading it. Maybe you disagree...and that is fine...that is allowed in this country. I believe there is a difference between reading a speech and delivering a speech. At least that is what I was taught in my Public Speaking course in college. Some of you obviously disagree....and that's cool.

I have never said anything about Palin, McCain, or Bush being great speakers. I don't have time to monitor all their speaking engagements and determine if they are using a teleprompter. However, it is obvious that Obama uses a teleprompter on close to 100% of the speeches that I happen to unfortunately see. Actually, he gives so many speeches, it would be amazing if he didn't use the teleprompter often. Maybe that is the problem....he gives way to many speeches. I would encourage him to give fewer speeches and work on his agenda, but, as one who is not in favor of his liberal agenda, I would prefer he fail on most of those (so hopefully he keeps himself busy with all those speeches). Yup...I said fail

Yeah, but you're just saying that because he's black, right?

I mean, clearly, that could be the ONLY reason why you'd be against him making America a better place.

Yes, you and every other person who really doesn't care about moving the country forward. Congrats for being honest about it, though. Nice to finally understand that there is not one idea that Obama favors that you would support, and that everything he proposes, including troops for Afghanistan, is something you would like to see him fail at. But no, not obstructionist. He is the president. He won the election. He still has a higher approval rating than disapproval rating in most polls. You may try and make him out to be Bush with an approval rating of 22%, but he's not, and you just can't deal with it. Fine.

Where Palin really shows her incompetence is during interviews and Q and A sessions. Would you like to compare Katie Couric's interview with Obama's extemporaneous comments to the republicans during his Q and A session? No teleprompter there, was there? Did you see him struggle a lot? Really?

There is no comparison. Palin is a slug with no ideas, just rhetoric. She proposes nothing, but has no problem in criticizing others after she quit her leadership role for personal interests. She is pathetic, and like I said, I sincerely hope she is selected to represent the republican party. As much as I dislike Romney, he is the only republican I can see that could win. So you go, Sister Sarah. More power to you. I'll even send you some permanent markers so you don't have to re-write your list.
