Gordon Brown shows impeccable class in the face of insultingly low class offerings on the behalf of the obamination.. The obamination offered Brown 25 dvds of american movies - how's that for social class and etiquette from the Ivy league educated individuals? Wow. These demulecrats sure know how to make an impression! And we thought Bush was bad? Ha!

hillary clinton's "overcharge" push button gaffe was an equally humilating act on behalf of the American people.

"God, this is so embarrassing and so tacky.
Gordon Brown's gift to Obama was richly symbolic, chosen with great care and sensitivity: a penholder carved from the hull of a 19th century British ship that chased down slavers crossing the Atlantic - and a sister ship of the HMS Resolute - the timbers that made the Oval Office desk. And he gets a set of DVDs he won't even be able to play in the UK (the system is different there) and will be unlikely to use anyway: Gordon Brown is partially blind. I don't imagine he wastes his sight watching "Raging Bull".

I voted for Obama and I am ashamed...."

    Well done, demulecrats. Well done.

You heard Obama's spokesman said that Obama was "too tired." Gosh, only a couple of months in office and he is too tired.

To be honest I would be more happy with some DVD's that a pen holder I would just put in storage since it has no practical use

And Brown is probably happy that he gets anything, back here the only thing most people would like to give him is a knive.... placed in his back

But I agree it is not the most classy present..

Maybe McCain or Bush would of gave a set of VHS tapes instead.

Wishful thoughts, not actions in this case.

Say what you want about McCain or Bush, they are irrelevant now. Obamination is on stage now. Fact is, Obama`s gifts were totally and utterly classless. There`s no getting around it.

Giving DVDS of the wrong format to a partially blind individual? As the teens say on youtube.... EPIC FAIL.

I was just trying to make light of the different generations.
The gift could definitely be considered lacking class.

I very much doubt that any serious western leader cares a hoot for the "gift" they get (especially since most democratic leaders don't get to keep most gifts anyway).

Given the choice between a good "gift" from an american President, or a President with a good grasp of international policy -- most would likely forgo the gift.

This is all about how conservatives are all about the sizzle and not the steak.

They are more "offended" at pictures of Obama in shirt sleeves, having intellectually challenging discussions about how to resurrect this country. The symbolism of junior "insisting" that suit coats be worn in the Oval Office, matters more to them than that junior was insufficiently competent to be there.

They care much more about flag pins on labels, saluting the flag, saying the pledge of allegiance, and amending the constitution to ban desecrations of the flag -- than that the bushes dishonored heroic soldiers coming home, by hiding their flag draped coffins.

    To take my light humor one more level;
I really think this was worthy to note.

Anonymous stated: "I voted for Obama and I am ashamed...."

He/she should be ashamed, because if they knew Obama was going to give Dvd's as a gift,
they would of never voted for him in the first place.

Obama's gift was more expensive... unless he downloaded the movies from p2p... lol

This thread is epic fail. lol

Far as obama being "tired", when anyone here becomes President of anything, then they can brag about how easy it is... lol

Will admit that was a lame excuse though...

I thought I saw a post about Obama being asked tough questions on the economy and giving back detailed answers on the economy. I guess not. Question though - has Obama given any detailed answers on the economy?

Obama's failed on everything so far. Not only is he an embarrassment for this country, he is single handedly ruining the economy with his ridiculous bailouts and spendulous bills.

No question about it. They are running around like chickens without heads at this point, and the stimulus packages won't even amount to a blip on the radar screen. Bunch of disingenious blowhards lecturing us about higher taxes when they don't have the integrity to pay their own. Do as I say, not as I do. That should be the democrat slogan.

I believe that is what the democrat party was saying about Bush. In fact, isn't that what got Obama elected?

no Ben, what got Obama elected was the Epic Fail of of everything about republican ideology: the pretense of being good stewards of the country, of loving it more and being more capable of defending it, of being more responsible fiscally, of being more prudent when it came to foreign entaglements and wars, of ensuring that competency was paramount over ideology --

On all those matters GOPers Epically failed. For 8 horrific years they brought this nation nothing but blood, despair, and fiscal ruin, -- and created a climate that while it was entirely hostile to the environment, was friendly indeed to charlatans, fraudsters, and thieves -- from its first days with Enron, to its catastropic cataclysmic end with Madeoff.

Never has there been a worse 8 years than junior's -- and that was why Obama won.

Well, there certainly was a great deal of anger toward the GOP. I think their downfall was a bit more complicated (and yet simpler) than that. I believe that most folks see the GOP as "cranky white guys who will look after your money" (I don't recall who said that years ago, but it stuck in my head - it may have been Bill Maher). Once you lose the trust in money management, it left a good number of people wondering what exactly the party is good for.

Additionally, the party has added this religiously ideological arm to attract Christian Conservatives, to make a wierd, two-headed monster that turns off those who are fiscal conservatives yet socially moderate.

It would be nice if it were so simple. So what part do you put the democrats in? What about Barney? What about...you know who - what part did they play in this by saying nothing was wrong, by making their millions with a smile on their face. What part did they play getting richer while the public got poorer.

Granted that Bush turned an eye, but the real crooks, the one you seem to be willing to defend.

It's easy to point at Barney or any other individual and lay the blame. The reality is that there is more than enough blame to go around, and it's based less on political ideology than it is on basic human greed. I don't think you can blame a single party, but you can definitely blame the fact that the lack of oversight and regulation played a large part - and, whether you want to believe it or not, the last administration were big advocates of the "wisdom" of an unregulated market.

It's also easy to point at the "big spending" current administration, and ignore the fact that tax cuts haven't been shown to improve a stalled economy - most economists say it's about stimulating spending and jobs.

Most "left" or liberal say that, not those of a conservative lean. Look at what Regan did, his tax cuts did a whole lot more than Carter's tax plan. Look at the inflation rate before Regan and then after Regan. So bunches of people say you are flat wrong on tax cuts.
