Anyone signed up for this yet? Just found out they're taking free beta sign ups. I signed up a few moments ago, but I'm waiting for the account to activate.

Post your thoughts if you're familiar with it please.

Looks interesting. They don't have support for Firefox until March so I will wait until then to try it out. Not a fan of IE.

I'd be a little skeptical at first about the security of this service.

Not sure what this has to do with the Pre but I signed up.

It has nothing to do with the Pre other than it's also on a cloud.

Don't be. In case the concept of the "cloud" is clouded, allow me to clarify. The cloud has only two functions:
    1. To enable service providers to steal you personal information.
    2. To enable service providers to charge you for everything that you do.

The above may appear cynical, but that's all there is to the "cloud" - an end to privacy and an end to freebies.

not sure i trust this web site ....
it;s already risky putting all your data in a cloud. A well know name would make me feel better

Please note: My spelling sucks and I'm to lazy to check it.

The people behind the site are well-known.... I don't understand that argument...

Although, the security argument, I get.... I don't want to put all my data on the web either... even though, if your computer is connected to the web (on all day and connected to DSL/Cable), you are technically on the web... or at a place "someone" can get to your data, if they wanted. lol

Of course, you are more than welcome to provide hosting for your own services, or friends.
    Did you know:

webOS ran on a Treo 800 during initial development.

This is like the early days of banking... where, one could have a personal, private bank if one choose to (ok, one could still do it I guess, but it wouldn't be worthwhile and the world of finance is complex, intertwined etc.)

Same with the Cloud. It just wouldn't be worth it. It would be more like setting up a "personal" search service to compete with Godgle.

You think cloud services are going to get less reliable and respectable then?

No, we are waiting for the 1000's of services to consolidate into a dozen or so... and for the gov't to get heavily involved...
