Matter of fact, no I'm very right... there was not an event. Period... you want to spread lies and call them fact... well, there was not an event.

Your posts sound a lot like what Palin said... because I can see russia from my window (if she actually can), then I must know a thing or two about foreign policy.

Well, just because you live there, does not mean you have all knowledge of what happens there... I'd venture to say you know very little to what happens there where obama was concerned... you were not there. You don't know jack.

Ok, but I sure see that the lies you state are being spread are really just getting under your skin. Have it your way, the only way you will ever have it.

Matter of fact, Palin never said that.

I think that came from the SNL skit where they took the mickey of Palin's claims for international experience.
Think Palin refered to being close to Russia, not being able to see it..
    correct me if I'm wrong

In her interview with Charlie Gibson (and on an earlier occasion(, she stated that you can see parts of Russia from Alaska, not from her house. That was, of course, exaggerated by Tina Fey.

You're right, she never actually said that - she has been paraphrased. I believe some of McCain's staffers may have said it though...I'll dig up a quote if I can find one.

    What she DID say is:

"As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border." --Sarah Palin, explaining why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience, interview with CBS's Katie Couric, Sept. 24, 2008 (Watch video clip)
In response to her innuendo that Russians violating US air space is in any way under her control or amounts to her "foreign policy experience" was promptly nullified by the NORAD themselves.

The Alaska governor has no command authority over the guardians of U.S. airspace despite her recent suggestion otherwise.
"She doesn't have any role in that process," Air Force Maj. Allen Herritage, spokesman for the Alaska North American Aerospace Defense Command, told the Daily News.

"The authority to launch and respond to a Russian incursion lies with the Alaska NORAD Region commander" - Air Force Lt. Gen. Dana Atkins, he said.

But then, this is all quite understandable given this is a woman who thinks her job as VP will be to run the US senate.

Again, she was paraphrased - yes, I believe it was by Tina Fey.

    She actually said:

"GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions particularly in the last couple weeks does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They're our next door neighbors. And you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska."

Actually, I think you mean "parodied" not "paraphrased". Paraphrasing is restating something in a different manner for clarity. Parodying is to imitate for ridicule or satire.

Saying she can see Russia from her window is not really a paraphrase.

All I'm saying is the "event" you are recalling never happened. Funny enough, you can provide no details on the "event" and no other facts.

I'm stating it never happened, and you not being able to provide any details, outside of your account, and you were not even there.

    Your posts are laughable.

Parody or satire does not equate to being paraphrased.

I mentioned it in another post. Closest I've been able to find was a Fox morning show guy (Doocy). He didn't say anything about her house either, but he did throw out the concept that Alaska's proximity did give some insight into Russia. I think Cindy McCain was asked a question about it in an interview as well.
But then, this is all quite understandable given this is a woman who thinks her job as VP will be to run the US senate.
    Any video source on that?

Thank you. You're right. To paraphrase would have meant Tina Fey was trying to add clarity to Palin's comment by stating it in a different way. But since it was unclear how exactly being able to see Russia in parts of Alaska equates to foriegn policy experience, that would be hard to do.

Read: Palin's attempt to use Alaska's proximity to Russia to shore up her appaling lack of experience was still disingenuous - and outright laughable....made even more laughable by Tine Fey.

I've provided her exact quotes above.

If you read the transcript you posted a link to, she never advanced that argument. At best, McCain did (although I'm going on the transcript here since I did not see the interview or where McCain would have said it due to circumstances beyond my control).

In Couric's interview, she definitely stated that her proximity gave her foreign policy experience:

Couric: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

Sarah Palin: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundary that we have with Canada. It's funny that a comment like that was kinda made to … I don't know, you know … reporters.

    Couric: Mocked?

Palin: Yeah, mocked, I guess that's the word, yeah.

Couric: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

Palin: Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there…

Couric: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Palin: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state.

Ahh yes, she dumbed it all down. That's the ticket!

She didn't know. Period. She didn't just say the VP was in charge of the Senate, she actually said she can't wait to get in there and work with the Senate like she was going to be their leader.

Missing in the description of the VP job - the fact that she needs to be ready to be President on day one.

Here is Palin before she was picked for VP answering the question about what a VP does (and a bunch of stuff about the firing of her ex-brother-in-law before that).

Theog, I have chosen not to continue with it. The event did happen, there was security there, nothing more needs to be said. The event was covered in the local paper, take the time to look it up yourself. It just goes to show you are one that really goes off without any reason.
