Since this thread began MJ has stated this on their front page:

Use the magicJack free for 30 days, make all the free calls you please. 100% Risk FREE - you pay nothing. (Hurry, Free Trial Offer not available in stores and only available here until Wednesday, December 17, 2008. Only 20,000 magicJacks are still available for this Free Trial Offer!)

The only thing that has changed is the date... tomorrow the date will be "Thursday, December 18, 2008." LOL

I like their product, want to support it, and understand the risk that they may not be around that long.

For me its worth it -- if you agree its a definite bargain.
    How cool is MJ?

Funny enough, I'm looking into while contemplating a move to your neck of the woods (If you really are in DC). I'd need to get a DC or Maryland number. Although, I'd really rather go with skype or gizmo... at $40 a year (for something I'd not use that much) you can't "really" beat it... far as I can tell.

I wish GrandCentral were still giving out free accounts... I have several numbers on GrandCentral, but none in DC. lol

I actually went for that extended MJ plan when I originally bought it. I still say it's best for when you have to hang on the phone with operators and don't want to burn your cell minutes.

should they last its alot less than $40/yr (I expect they will)

MajicJack provided BARYE with a DC area code (though he actually resides in an undisclosed cave in the vicinity of Lahore, Pakistan ...)

Thanks for the info in this post and the others. While I'm not 100% sold, I'll more than likely give this a shot and load it in a virtual pc to ensure it does not load something nasty on my computer.

If you ever mysteriously go "blank" we will know why. Unlike some that stopped posting when THAT MAN was elected, we will know you were hit with a cave busting bomb.

I will tell them to look for a hole with a cat 5e cable running out the top.
