    What Happened to Hillary ??

    She was unlucky.

Her strategic advisors were prepared to win previous wars -- and lacked the agility and cleverness to quickly adjust to an unexpected one.

She targeted her campaign (and her Senate career) toward winning the general election in November, and less toward winning the Democratic nomination.

And she faced a shrewd team that better understood the delegate rules, that exploited ethnic advantages in raising money and leveraging proportional delegate allocation, and that had behind it unprecedented media bias.

    Being "The Front Runner" hurt

As the consensus favorite to win the nomination, Hillary was from the beginning the center of everyone’s focus and gun sights.

The target of everyone’s barbs and questions -- hers was a role pressured until it would inevitably crack. After a year of hyped expectations and commentary, even the tiniest of stumbles were inevitably amplified into catastrophes.

Weirdly, even after Obama started to win and she was clearly no longer the frontrunner, the media continued to press her as though she was -- continuing to for example force her with the opening questions in debates.

    Not being the “insurgent” hurt

An inherent “advantage” of an insurgent is that they are hyper vigilant for for the loophole, the Achilles heel, the unpatched weakness.

Whether its by using pungee sticks in Viet Nam, Improvised Explosive Devices in Iraq, or the cany destruction of the Death Star in Star Wars 1, insurgents are forced to think outside the box to defeat stronger, more prepared, more veteran opponents. Necessity compels innovation and improvisation.

In this case Hillary faced an insurgent whose “advantages” were further magnified by features peculiar to a “first of” candidate.

As the first candidate ethnically identifiable as black with a realistic chance of becoming President, Obama was the recipient of an unprecedented amount of support from millions of small first time contributors.

(more on all this in part 2)

    Journalists Hated Her

A media uncomfortable with race as a subject, searched for messages that fulfilled its own preconceived plotline of bigotry and racism.

This discomfort with race, along with a long time animus toward “the Clintons”, effectively prejudiced the media to favor Obama. A media that scoured everything for any hint of a racial innuendo even when there was none, that exclaimed joyously when it was found even when it was inadvertent -- and wailed with faux sorrow about “racial politics” even if the criticism was appropriate and germane.

This was a press (MSNBC in particular) that was preinclined to savage Hillary and support her principle challenger because of long standing antipathy to both her and her husband -- no matter who her opponent would have been.

She was not unlucky, she was not prepared.

Being a lier did not help her. When Sinbad does not find humor in your lie, you are in trouble.

They were both even... obama went through some stormy seas to get were he is at... Hillary would have folded under the Wright controversy.

I see you changed this from your first version... lol... smart move.

Nobody "hated" hillary in the media... she was the cause of her news. Firing people in her campaign... having her husband openly attack a candidate... her husband is a respected party leader (get real, bill should not have done that... that is two against one!!!).

Sending her daughter to every frat party on earth to spread the message... then watching as her daughter disrespected the media... even a little 10-year-old who wanted to speak with her.

Media watching as hillary's campaing folds under loses after hillary finds out she is in a real fight.

This discomfort with race, along with a long time animus toward “the Clintons”, effectively prejudiced the media to favor Obama. lol.. okay....

More like because hillary lied and changed who she was so many times... is she a native of NY, DC, TN, or PA? I don't know who she is. She claimed to have been hunting and to love guns, but yet support strict gun laws.

She would make a mistake and then pretend like it was not a big deal... where obama would take each controversy directly and apologize where appropriate....

And we won't mention hillary's negative campaign strategy... that did not go over too well.... she should have listened to Rove.

This was a press (MSNBC in particular) that was preinclined to savage Hillary and support her principle challenger because of long standing antipathy to both her and her husband -- no matter who her opponent would have been.
They attacked both candidates.... hillary's bad management and bad decisions provided the media with more to report.

Heck, if they wanted to be ruthless as you state, the fact that her husband was impeached would have came up every week. The same husband she is still with. Same husband that lied to Americans... then apologized afterwards. In some circles, they consider Bill 1000 times worse than Wright.

Having a traitor for husband probably didn't help.
