I see today a SUV was driven to a Scottish airport building on fire and there were 2 cars with explosives found in London on Friday.

Since John Edwards says Terrorism is just a Bush bumber sticker, I wonder if these vehicles had those stickers on them?

I doubt it. Seems like I did see “Bush is an *****” on one of them though. hahaha

Yea I guess we should listen to Democrats that say "believe what we tell you, not what you see with your own eyes"

Actually, I think you may be thinking about Carl Rove and Bush’s play book. Don’t you remember “you’re doing a heck of a job Brownie!” while the world watches as bodies float down the street in New Orleans? Or what about the mantra “jobs Americans won’t do” always carefully omitting the second part of that sentence ......at the indentured servant wages employers want to pay. The double speak and spin is endless. Which is one reason I’m neither a Democrat or a Repuklican.

Real terrorists manage to make more than 0/3 bombs go bang. No-one I've spoken to in London (as opposed to the media, for whom this sort of thing is a god-send during the summer slow-news period) is getting very excited. Most people seem to think these are copycat wannabes like the 21 July 2005 ones and others.

You just can't get decent terrorists these days!

I guess they are not terrorists and not to be worried about until they get you or someone you know.

    Good luck with that attitude.

Edwards statement is quite accurate. A catch phrase just like "the war on drugs".

It's an issue which will always exist and require constant policing.

And as others have noted. These are quite amateurish attempts at terrorism, BUT do point out where intelligence and focus are lacking.

Or you could believe that the half-trillion dollar unnecessary war in Iraq has allowed a brush fire of terrorism explode into a world-wide wildfire of hatred for the US, it's policies, and its allies. But that may require too much thinking.

Oh Ben, I knew you couldn't resist to jump in and pile on some more unsubstantiated and over-generalized rhetoric.

Here's a clue - think before you type.

I did know people who were "got" by terrorists; I was woken on 13 November 1981 by the bomb attack on my MP's nearby home. More recently, I was at work at the London Fire Brigade on the day of the 7/7 London Bombings. I've had all the personal experience I need thank you - what personal experience have you had?

My wife, a former fire fighter, lost four fire fighter friends due to 9-11. Two of them were close friends she corresponded with on a regular basis.

Now, with your experiences, are you saying you are not concerned? You should be.

Also, Moderateinny, please explain how I am over generalizing? Unsubstantiated?

Being a terrorist does not require intelligence, it does require dedication. We both know that if they had a choice, both you and I would be dead and that is not an over statement.

Also, you statement about Bush and terrorism - this country has done more for the Islamic world than any other - the money we spend, the efforts to promote peace. No one comes close. Does Russia? Does China? You now as well as I do the answer is no.

So quit speaking of generalizations - you are very guilty of it yourself.

Some of us don't scare so easily - that's what terrorists want (the clue is in the name we call them).

    You should be.

I did not say scare - I said concerned. If you are saying you are not scared or concerned, then you are just begging for a hit.

Good luck with that attitude. It will not help you when the situation gets rough.

Well...the terrorist aren't the only ones that want us scared. Some might say fear works rather well in mid-term elections and to justify unnecessary wars as well.

BTW Ben - I'll take my chances with terrorists any day rather than surrender my freedoms that I fought for and many a friend died for. And I certainly aren't rolling over for a bunch of chickenhawks that overwhelmingly never served and continue to exploit fear to achieve political gains.

GIVE ME LIBERTY OR GIVE ME DEATH.

What attitude Ben? Bravery for the sake of liberty?

I've heard about drinking the Koolaid but seriously Ben I am happy for you that you didn't live in Jonestown back in '78.

Hear a guard say the one on fire was shouting "Allah" - I think they wanted to be terrorists (and are) but they are not the PROS we see in the middle east or the UK train bombings..thank God for that. These seem to take their own initiative and failed!
  18. #18
The administration does not want you frightened, just aware and ready.

Your statement though - very laughable and exceedingly immature - but your typical statement.

A statement - there are those who also believed like you, took their chances with the terrorists. Some of those others lost their heads.

I hope you have good head insurance - it will not help you very much though when the blade does its thing.

Good luck, but more than that, do not be a fool.

    Ben

Even the pros fail and even the losers have their good days.

Isn't it strange how the terrorist threat level hasn't moved much at all since the last elections? Isn't it odd how it was elevated within days of any bad news for the administration leading up to an election? Isn't it strange that the Iraq war HAD to start when it did (just before the mid-term elections) and could not wait until after the elections? Don't tell me this administration doesn't rely on fear and hasn't used it for political gain because they absolutely have.

And what exactly should we be "aware" of and "ready" for Ben? What would you do if you saw something suspicious? Was there training available to all Americans to be skilled in the art of determining who is up to something fishy and I missed it? Because if they are not trained then it seems to me getting people panicky will inevitably lead to people being falsely accused and incarcerated for merely being suspected. Now granted it would be nice if we actually caught real ones, but at what expense? How many innocent people need to lose their freedom for the sake of you feeling protected?

And how do we get "ready" Ben? Ready for what exactly? Should I use duct tape and seal up my windows now? Should I wait on our crack government and crack intelligence community who swore they wouldn't abuse the Patriot Act, yet did, to protect me?
