Go down to radio shack and get a 3.5mm audio cable that has the same connector on both sides. Then plug one end into the headphone jack of your cassette player and the other end into the microphone jack of your computer. Then find your standard audio recording program and push play and record. There you go.

I have found that Audacity is a nice shareware program for recording.
    Device: 700wx,4G SD Card
    Service: VZW

When I get my PPC just the way I want it.....what happens next?

Atmosphere Deluxe is a surprising program that I have used for many purposes beyond what it's initial intention was for. It is originally suppose to be a program where you can create your own relaxing sound files....i.e. a stream with a slight breeze blowing while you sit next to a campfire. It really is good at what it originally is suppose to do.

.....But what I have used it a lot to record files that are traditionally challenging or impossible to record. In other words this program will record anything that plays over your speakers. Want to record streaming audio, now you can. Want to record a MIDI file and save it as a MP3, now you can. This along with

    Audacity at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
    DBpowerAmp at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

Make a very powerful combination where you can do just about anything you want.
