Wouldn't that be true if one believed in Heaven/Hell or if they didn't?

    Dunno. Ask Ted Haggard.

Or on a more serious note, one of the 911 hijackers who thought they'd be going to hang out with a bunch of virgins. I think we'd all agree that they were motivated to horrendous actions here and now because they thought there were better things in an afterlife for them - coupled of course with their fundamentalist teachings and belief that the US is the leader of the infidels. Well that and they hate freedom...

It is interesting that some islamic fundies believe that they will be rewarded with lots of women (or boys) in the afterlife. In this life they can be executed in a very gruesome fashion for indulging in sex, (or even suggestive behavior) outside of strict boundaries.

This man did not emulate his religion's founder, yet claimed authority to dictate governmental policy as inspired from on high. He defined himself as an enemy of the People of the State long ago.

Backbeat, your triad against Falwell is really very potent! Now where in any of his presentations did he ever claim authority to dictate government policy? Also how did he define himself as an enemy of the people of the state?

When one looks at your triad, it is right there with those you are complaining about. What a shame to hate everything you do not agree with.

Specifically, in what ways was Falwell Christ-like?

The man, like every other man, including myself and you, is a man. A person, man or woman, 30 years in the public spot light will make a mistake - Falwell admitted his mistakes immediately. He never hid his mistakes. He was in the fore front for family values, which you seem to be against. He was i the forefront for taking personal responsibility, which you seem to be against. Christ like? No, just trying to live up to the expectations he was taught - same as myself and many, many millions of people throughout the world.

    Manson-Family Values, possibly.

Ok, again you are just babbling - you demand backup from others, where is yours? How is it anything like Manson? You just do not make sense any more.

    Take another swing at it?

Oh well, you certainly have given up with being open in this discussion.

Falwell defined himself years ago without any assistance.

Backbeat, you have lost it entirely. The hatred you espouse while saying others espouse hatred is plainly visible. I do not believe anyone on the "other side of the street" has uttered anything as derogatory or with the degree of vehemence that you have. The name calling you continue to use has gotten to the point of sheer boredom and childishness.

Perditac, where does it say anything about "or boys?" I cannot find any reference to that statement. Are we just throwing meaningless, feel good words around?

You may want to entertain the notion of expanding your vocabulary ... and your mental curiosity. Just a helpful thought ...

Perditac made a statement which when taken literally has no foundation. I do not entertain the notion of expanding, I actually do so. Thank you for the helpful thought. Now, do you have any responses to the above posts that do not rely upon rhetoric? Ben
