As always, in a democracy, I'll blame the public. As long as we behave like zombies that can be manipulated by the incessant TV attack ads and the spin doctors, we'll get the govt we deserve.

The only way out is a completely public financed elections.. which the lobbyists (and the brain-washed public) won't allow.
Actually, I've expressed the identical statement in another thread. Until and unless we remove the PACs, the unelected Lobbyists, the 527/503(c)'s, who are responsible to no one other than themselves, and install public financed elections as the law of the land we will never have fully fair and democratic elections free from taint. If the Military-Industrial economy wasn't scared shyte-less of the results of public financed elections, it could become our standard tomorrow.

Here's a primer on the Republican misdeeds.

I hope someone creates a similar one for the Democrats at some point. Just to show how (un)even things have been since the Republicans took over congress in the mid-90's.

There are loads of lists on both parties. Here are some on the Dems from a quick Google:

Washington Times: Democrats mum on 'corruption'
    http://washingtontimes.com/national/...4359-9421r.htm

No Agenda.org is an obviously biased site at it focuses mainly on Dem corruption, but it is usually well sourced and often times pointing to large mainstream sources like LA Times, CNN, NY Times, etc.... Click on any person and see the list of reported investigations or scandals they have been caught with or click on a topic and see any who may be on that list....I just noticed a more extensive drop down list that has all the people and topics listed.

If you want a whole laundry list from both parties from a discussion on this similar topic about two years ago take a look at this thread:

The above referenced source of softcore political porn is nauseatingly shallow and disgusting. Such a false-resource is a vile insult of one's intelligence.
