I didn't get a wii, but I did get a sweet little mobile GPS unit for $150 from Fry's. It regular $300-$400, so its a good price. People were fighting over this unit at Compusa, Circuit City and Staples as they had it for about the same price and sold out very quickly. I walked into Fry's around noon and they still had about 100 left because it was buried in their ad an many did not notice.

Before you say anything, I know I can hook a GPS mouse up to my 700wx, but the screen size is better my new GPS unit and I don't have to mess with running extra software on my Treo.

    Congrats Hdhntr23.

Yeah wives and videogames don't go together. That is why I got a Nintendo Wii.
My wife is crazy about the Wii. She HATES videogames, but has played no less that 2hrs a day on the Wii. Just to be able to play them with her is worth it alone.

It took having a son and waiting until he was old enough to play video games to get my wife somewhat into them. I got her a DS last Christmas and she loves it.

But she has always been understanding with me liking to play them.....after my chores are done at least

I just put in an order for a Wii bundle at circuitcity.com this morning.

I had gone down to the local Game Stop, but they're no longer taking pre-orders. They say it's because they don't know how many units they'll get before Christmas.

So I used Wiiseeker to find out when various real-world retailers would be getting new shipments, and Refresh Thing to get the current status of online retailers.

Wiiseeker said that one of the retail chains would get a shipment on 12/6, so I figured they might start selling online at the same time. I checked at midnight and at 6am. Nothing. At 9am, Refresh Thing showed Amazon, JC Penney, Circuit City, and Wal-Mart all showing availability. I found nothing at Amazon or Wal-Mart. Perhaps I was too late. And I couldn't even find a Wii for sale at JCPenney.com. No problems at Circuit City. In fact, they were in stock for over 20 minutes. I tried to pick up a second one (the first was a gift), but my bank suddenly decided that my repeat purchase looked suspicious and locked out my account. By the time I called and had the hold released, they were out of stock.

Since this morning, most of Wiiseeker's data has been removed, and a disclaimer has been added. I'm guessing that some of the retailers complained that they were giving out bad info. In case anyone is interested, I remember it said that the local GameStop stores would be getting shipments this Friday, and many other stores would be getting shipments on Sunday. I think those mornings would be a good time to check online sites, but of course, no guarantees.

Sorry for the late reply. I have been Wii-ing alot.

It was so worth it. I have had my parents, father/mother in law over to play too. That is how much fun it is. Even old people cnat stop playing it.

    It was worth every penny.

BTW. I picked up another 2 and sold them on craigslist for $480 each. It was a nice gift to have the extra cash.

It is kind of sad that people would pay close to double for these systems. but then again...... its money in my pocket.

No one forced you to stand in purchase cue behind this very sad person. You could easily have walked out the door.

The irony is half the items in the wal-mart are probably manufactured by people who have to crap themselves at work as they are on their 12th shift hour and get no breaks.

So my bank's security cost me several hundred dollars by preventing me from getting the second Wii.

Maybe....maybe not.....some of the Wii's (with more stuff being offered than I did) within 10 minutes of my closing auction only sold for around $320.....only $70 above MSRP minus sales tax minus eBay fees equals $50 profit. I took time to make my auction look better than most, but I think I just got lucky with the right bidders going against each other.
