I guess I was making the same point about christians. Just because the MAN is flawed that doesn't mean that the message is. But People really enjoy a good christian "gotcha" story.

I still don't get it. So he lives in a big house. It's not that he is killing baby seals or driving a Humvee.

I saw a news report the other day that says China's increase in coal burning in the next ten years will be the equivalent of 3 billion FORD Expeditions running 15 thousand miles a year. If thats true, I don't see the point of trying to do anything. Some politician has created laws that keeps us paying more for products to make us feel like we are doing something. We are just suckers.

I bet we will still be the most polluting society (any pollutant/person).

I think China are suckers, actually. They cannot continue their frenetic pace of development while letting their environment lag behind. Deforestation, dams, air and water pollution are already taking their toll in ruining China's natural resources. China will pay a steep price in resources, lost productivity, and human lives if they don't reform their environmental policies, its an economic reality they are starting to face now and will become increasingly obvious in the coming years.

Finally, a response to this ridiculous hit piece. Note that we should have seen it coming, the author had penned a coulter favorite titled: "Do As I Say, Not As I Do: Profiles in Liberal Hipocrisy"

Not titled "Do As I Say, Not As I Do....." the abbreviated title mikec had posted..gee wonder why he omitted that last part.

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion...-letters_x.htm

A summary, from this dkos post:

...I talked to some of Gore's people today, including Kreider, about the specific charges. Suffice to say, they're false. Gore receives no royalties from the mine, which shut down in 2003. (USA Today actually printed a correction about this, way down on page 10A.) Gore owns no stock in Occidental, and never has (his father did; it was all sold over six years ago). Gore does in fact take advantage of the green power options his utility offers, and was in the process of adding photovoltaic solar cells to his house when the article came out. He pays for his own personal carbon offsets, in addition to the institutional offsets purchased by Paramount (movie distributor) and Rodale (book publisher), which make both the book and the movie completely carbon neutral.
Also: "In addition, the Gores have donated 100% of all the profits from his movie and book to the fight against global-warming pollution."

your logic doesnt make sense to me..
So if your neighbour kills 3 people, it is ok for you to kill 1?

Everybody is responsible of their own actions regardless of what others do..
And yes China's environmental situation needs adressing.. But I'd say lead by example.. the exact thing that triggered this thread..

All I can say is that the title of this thread gives me an idea for a great 2008 campaign slogan:

    2008 Al Green, not Gore!

    Campaign themes/music:

    Let's Stay Together
Here I am (come and vote for me)
    Love and Low Taxes
Can you mend a broken judiciary?
Look what I can do for you

ok...when did have 3 homes or larger homes constitute not being green. actually the opposite can be argued. he owns 3 pieces of land that will not be used for commercial development and can essentially be run in "green" usage.

I'd assume that he is using energy efficient appliances.

And to think global warming is malarky? what planet are you living on? oh I forgot if you can't see it with your own eyes and have it effect your daily routine than it must not be real.

we all could do more, but why attack someone trying to help and make things better. are you scared of having to change?
