Man, it is simply HOT outside!!!!!

I know this heat wave is breaking records all over the country. I live in the NW...in the Portland, OR area. The average person up here starts melting at around 90-95 degrees. Yesterday the local gov issued a safety warning that today and tomorrow would be 104! I just checked my outside thermometer and it says right now 106!!!!!

When I used to live in Las Vegas, that is not uncommon....but wonder if this is an all time high for us?

How hot is it where you are?

    Pasadena, CA. Right at 100.

But we have uncharacteristic humidity, too -- there is a big bank of thunderclouds above the mountains just north of here. I think I will go for a nice long run in the back country tomorrow. :-) I was going to do a 50K up there next month but my knee hasn't fully recovered from a 30K I did in Sisters, Oregon for my birthday in April.

Seattle here, 93 degrees and I'm about to ride my bike 10 miles home to an apt which faces West and has no air conditioning (very little here has air conditioning).

    Cold shower(s) here I come!

Its pretty hot and sticky here in the IE (high of 108) but not as bad as some places. The high today in Lake Havasu was 120 with thundershowers.

I rented a car for work two weeks ago. They gave me a Cadillac. I am sure most of you have heard, seen, or have a car that the seats heats up when it is cold in the winter time. But this one had seats that could also go REALLY cold with a push of a button! I wish I had that car today!

It is 100 here now. I have the AC set to 73 and it has been on for an hour straight.

The annoying thing about houston is that it's like someone reaches over and turns off your body's natural cooling mechanism: sweating simply doesn't work. Makes running an interesting exercise because you just get hotter and hotter and hotter. The body can do nothing to fight it.

SWEET! I'd get on of these but I think that would solidify my reputation as super geek.

Some of the new VERY high end cars also have an option that when you run the A/C it stores a lot of cool in reserve. Then you stop at the store, the car will slowly release the saved cool to keep the car cooled down for up to an 30 minutes after you turn it off.

in Europe it is pretty hot too now.. the other day my car registered 38 celcius (100.4)..
It was the hottest day in July ever recorded in the UK..

In holland it has been real hot too.. 35+

Thing is people are not prepared to such temps, hardly any of the houses have airco since normally you dont need it...

The warmest place I've been was Broken Hill in Australia.. it was a record 50C/122F when we were there.

It's hard to imagine that even here in Canada we're enduring a heat wave!

The photo of my neighbour below shows what we Kanucks do during our heat waves...

Been there....that is why I live in the opposite corner of the country!

Reached 108 yesterday here and should be anywhere around 104-106 today....the good thing is that we DO NOT have the humidity. That makes a HUGE difference.
