That you can mix any ACID (a supplier of H+ ions) and any CYANIDE salt

Oh, I forgot - it's a triple secret umbra device.

Anytime you mix an acid and a cyanide salt you will have a very very
"efficient" release of cyanide gas. See: Gas Chamber - San Quentin.

    NaCN + HCL = HCN + NaCL + Heat

Heat volatilizes HCN into a Vapor.

    Phooey.

300ppm is lethal short term.. back of scratchpad 1-2 cuft of HCN would be
short-term lethal (5 min exposure) in a subway car. So?

Here's one for you - there is another gas - the smell of which most would
attribute to "farts" or "rotten eggs" that is almost as lethal. Not considered
a "WMD" though - hence far less "sexy". Easier to procure as well.

Let's see if anyone from TX or OK or other oil country can tell us what it is.

1.) It is my understanding that it is the simplicity of the device that is a breakthrough. Previous attempts at this type of attack have failed.

2.) According to the book, this is real, and was a part of a plan to use in NYC that was called off by Ayman Zawahiri.

Ditto. I think we should ban the rolling eyes icon, they are rude.

The simplicity of creating HCN is such that it has been used many times.

From chemical mixtures to simply adsorbed HCN into certan clays, used
    atrociously in WWII.

Please cite any previous attack using HCN that has "failed".

The Gas Chamber has not failed ONCE. It drops Cyanide pellets (called
"eggs") into an acid (usually Sulfuric). Whammo HCN gas, dead prisoner.

The only known gas attack that "failed" was a Sarin attack in the Japanese
subway. Using impure Sarin and a bad delivery method.

This is pure FUD. Parroted by the Times, and today being parroted by
every talking head in the news media.

I would agree inasmuch as I would question whether fighting a WWII style battle and occupying an Islamic state tends to make us more safe. I would personally say the opposite is true. Perhaps good for the Iraqi's perhaps not, but certainly not good for our national security, and good versus evil is not a foreign policy.

But I would also suggest that we have a right and a responsibility to defend ourselves. I don't see a reason why "police work" would have to have been done in Tora Bora. Identify the target (Osama). Destroy the target by whatever means necessary. It is ironic that the administration has no problem dropping 2000 pound bombs in neighborhoods, but used a handful of Afghani foot soldiers to destroy Osama Bin Laden?

It's been my experience that I receive a lot more FUD from politicians rather than books. It's easy for me to not buy a book. It's difficult to watch laws and liberties taken with laws by our government because of what could happen.

You dare me to city a previous Cyanide gas attack that had failed, and then you name one in the next sentence. Yes perhaps the Tokyo device did have a bad delivery method since the Time article speaks of the new device having "a stable source of hydrogen"

In any event, according the the book, it seems it was enough of a breakthrough to worry the Cia and the President. Does not sound like yadda yadda to me.

Are you mixing chamber and attack? You asked for a citing and listed it?

Mental note. Ignore all requests from swarthy mideasternly attired persons to "come check out this cool gas chamber".
