I offcourse support Holland and while they didnt play bad, I was hoping for more..

England was a bit dissapointing and the whining about the heat is sad..all the teams suffer it, so if you perform worst your out of shape..

Australia made an impressive come back! (I like to think due to their dutch manager )

It's surely fair to say that the English players are less used to the heat than players from e.g. Paraguay. But mainly the complaints were due to the way the ref didn't let them take on water rather than the heat itself.

I'm glad our next game is a evening game though

They still managed to go though 70 liters of water though!

Erm, he played for Northern Ireland, not England. C'mon Toolkit, you've lived here for a few years now! There's no such thing as a UK team (or league), not in football anyway.

Back on topic, looks like South Korea are restablishing themselves, will be a shock if Togo manage to win, or even draw.

(Just because you don't like it, if you used that degrading language in a pub in England or Brazil you would certainly be pounded to a pulp)

NOT AT ALL...I said the game today was boring......not the sport. Just like I have seen boring American Football games, lame hockey games, slow baseball games, uneventful bicycle stages, etc....

I don't watch soccer...uhm football....much in between, but I do watch the World Cup every time it comes around. Just like I don't watch a lot of season games, but I will always watch the World Series, NBA playoffs, and the Super Bowl.

I like sports but I am not fanatical about any of them.....except for maybe cycling. I do watch most all of the major classics and stage races in American and EU each year with the Tour De France being my Super Bowl for cycling each year.

It is the second most popular sport in the world....behind Soccer (football).

Because it is low scoring game, makes it that much more exciting when it does happen. That does not mean that there were not several near misses...i.e. missed just by 2 inches and hit the goal post, saved by an amazing feat by the goalie, corner kick putting your team in danger, etc........to keep the game exciting in between.

Who do you thinks enjoys the individual goals more? The basketball fan who's team won by scoring 127 points or the soccer fan who's team won by 2-1? The low scoring certainly adds a lot of excitement into the game as each individual goal has so much more meaning.

Touchdowns are worth 7 points, but are really only 1 score. As such, a 3-0 soccer game is similar to a 21-0 American football game. It's a spanking either way.
    Palm V-->Visor Deluxe-->Visor Prism-->Visorphone-->Treo 180-->Treo 600-->Treo 650 on Sprint-->Treo 700p-->Centro-->Diamond-->Pre-->HTC EVO 4g???!

It doesn't look good for the USA. I don't think they can beat Italy, and even if they draw that 3-0 score will haunt them.

People have been underestimating the Aussie for years. Now that we have moved out of that weak Oceania Conference and into the Asian Conference things will be looking up for the Australians.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie............ oi, oi, oi

Damn work...I wish MobiTV had a real channel for the games. From what I've heard their "Ticket To Germany 06" isn't any good for watching the games.

Man, I love this sport...it's dynamic and intense with minimal interruptions and, thankfully, commercials. I can't stomache baseball which every year feels less and less like a sport and more of a game with a few rather unathletic players. I never understood the argument that the sport is boring because the game are low scoring. If you have two well-matched teams the games can be incredibly exciting and dynamic with a final 0-0 score...or, by the same token, you may be watchign two incredibly inept teams.

edit: dammit, I didn't read the second page w/Hobbes' response

I don't think they can even beat Ghana, but this is football where (almost) anything can happen.

That's a really tough group for the US and they need to forget that loss, pick up their game, especially their defense, and go all out.

I agree....but it was more than their defense that they need to improve if they want to make it to the next round. Last game, they didn't even seem to have but a handful of challenges offered to the other side. They need to be aggressive with an immediate Defense when they loose control of the ball....that is what they faced the whole game.

They used to have the same coach as the aussies have now (Guus Hiddink).
He's great at making underdog perform miracles

And another dutch guy is coaching trinidad/Tobego.

So really it is the Dutch cup

Reading various articles, it seems that Japan is in shock losing to the Aussies. I think they assumed that they and Brazil would cruise through to the next round. Think again Japan I cannot wait to qualify and play them again in the Asian Cup
