    I kno this is the wrong forum for this but it seems like everyone here knows there tech stuff..so sorry but I jus got my laptop from dell today...how to I connect it to my wireless router

    1. I assume that the laptop has wireless capability, and yes I had to ask ....BTDT

    2. I'd start with the router manual.

    3. And the Laptop manual as well as Windows networking guide

    4. I don't use Dell because of poor tech support issues but since it is new and yu are presumably within the period where you can return it, I'd call Dell.

    5. But basically the procedures are this:

    a) Install software (Dell probably has done this already)
    b) Install wireless card
    c) Check device mangler and see if wirelss shows under network stuff
    d) Follow manual's procedure for setting up network conenction

    I think under windows, there's a 'Network Connections' folder you can get to from the start menu. Once you're in that folder, you can run the 'Create a connection' wizard. That should scan for wireless networks and allow you to connect to them.
