hey. has anyone else had the experience of having to hire a lawyer?
I had to retain a lawyer for several thousand dollars cause of some B.S. and believe me its all B.S. its very depressing and I worry about it a lot.
just to make it relevant to the board; I typed my statement of events on my treo.

People hate lawyers...until they need them.

Are you depressed over the circumstance, or the lawyer??

I have had to hire a lawyer 3 times, and each time when I was finished i thought to myself

1.) Huh? I could have done that.
2.) and ... You get paid what?!?
3.) and finally ... I am going back to school.

Been there. Done that. Doing it now, in fact.

Well, not the typing on the Treo part. My new Treo 650 gets here on Monday (my wife has my old Treo 650 and I'm going to pitch a servicable Blackberry 7230 into the Pacific Ocean with considerable glee).

Once upon a time a long time ago I was whining at a friend about money problems, because I had 'em (lack of money specifically was my problem). He barked back at me, "Listen. Money problems are the best problems to have. Sooner or later they go away. Health problems. Family problems. Now THOSE are hard to deal with." I remember Joe's comment often.

I hope your lawsuit stuff -- like mine -- is just about money.

    theblaze74,

So on your point #3, the school thing. Did you go back to school? Are you in school? Don't say you chose law school.

I actually had a good experience with the one time I needed an attorney. Represented me in a Workers Comp case against my former employer. A Work. Comp. claim that was filed by them initially, and not me. As a last resort I hired an attorney, and when all was said and done, was glad I did.

I'm depressed over the circumstance. I feel the lawyer has saved my life. I don't know what I would have done had I not gone to him.

I'm a lawyer, and I would hate to have to hire a lawyer. Lawsuits are very expensive and very consuming in .many ways.

I needed a lawyer to sign my redundancy agreement and was pretty pleased with her service.
A bunch of us agreed a good rate (half of what others would ask, but she had the advantage that all the agreements were pretty much the same).
It still seemed like quick money to me, but at least now I know there were no pitfalls in that agreement.. as a matter of fact the lawyer told me that she would have made the agreement more watertight if she had made it.. so that was good news

I was making a point, albeit too subtle. If isn't shocking to find out someone who thinks that George Bush is on the line listening each time he makes a phone call, needs to hire attorneys more than your average Joe. As for you advice, save it for your illegitimate kids.

I think you need to stay off the caffeine, there is no link between one's political idea's and their need for a lawyer.. unless you believe conspiracy theories..
