as geatches said, it's about who pays. An insurance card doesnt define healthcare.

Although..... I'll have to ask my police friends if they are providing drivers with healthcare when they stop them. They ask for an insurance card right??

    Let's try this again.

You can use health insurance card for only health care related expenses. Prescriptions are part of health care. Any place that fills prescriptions is providing health care, at least partly. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to use your health insurance card to fill prescriptions. But since you can, that alone tells you that pharamacies are considered health care related.

Excuse me, was that supposed to be "health care", Mr. Grammar? Sorry I got lazy.

But we all know that you can't get every drug at every pharmacy. Why is Wall-Mart being forced to carry certain drugs over others? That's somewhat rhetorical. The answer is politics.

LT have you ever been to a pharmacy that doesnt carry every drug? They are all over. There is no mandate saying a privately owned business has to carry every particular product. I think this has been mentioned numerous times in this thread. Thats why there are lots of stores in this country. Are you perhaps advocating a state run store that is the same everywhere and offeres exactly the same products from everyone at all time? I sure hope not.

actually it is the exact same. They own the business and choose what they want to sell. Same as our stores. We have chosen what to sell. We dont expect folks looking for stuff we dont carry to come in and complain. In fact they dont. When we say we dont carry something they ask if we might know who does and then off they go.

Why is this a hard concept for you?

LadyTreo, don't let them get under your skin. Sometimes picking apart the way you convey your ideas, is the only way to discredit you when there is not a good argument against the substence of your ideas, even to the point where intellegence is called in to question, or even your grammar or spelling.

Getting back to to the core of the issue at hand, of course this is an ignorant and reprehensible policy, we are well within our rights to call attention to it, and the state board of Massachusetts that oversees pharmacies, has every right to set standards disallowing it.

It wouldn't be the first one. Walmart is not allowed to sell anything they like.

Um. This is a method of birth control that millions of women use on a regular basis. The hormone prevents the embryo from attatching to the wall of the Uterus.

It is only the dose that is different with "Plan B".

If it wasnt for Walmart, illegal aliens, or undocumented workers if you prefer, would have no place to shop. Made in China by political prisoners and bought in the US by illegal Mexican immigrants. At least somebody paid sales tax.

Actually within the guidelines of legal retail sales in the US, they are. And we are not really talking about Walmart selling what they like, but Walmart not selling what they dont like. That is of course within their right as a business in the country.

Lol, yes they are allowd to sell whatever they like, as long as its something they are not allowed to sell. Good point.

As far as what they HAVE to sell ... Massachusetts has set up a board to make sure that any business that calls itself a pharmacy meets certain minimum standards. Walmart included.

Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, gay marriage, regulating what a store can sell, what a state!

Perfectly good reason to stay the **** out of the state of Massachusetts. Bunch of socialist nitwits. You from there Blaze?

Pretty soon all the stores will be run by the state.

the difference between phone stores and pharamacies is that they are not equally regulated -- or doing business as an entity which is integral peoples' health.

when I'm on the run from one of your minions and I need to find a store that sells T-mob to replace the phone I lost jumping through that 4th floor window -- your not selling T-mob may endanger my life, but I'm ok with that.

but it would not be ok if I went to a WM pharmacy to get some antibiotics to heal the gun shot wound gotten from one of your interns only to discover that they don't carry them -- because "they've decided not to offer antibotics because they are morally opposed to the murder of innocent young microbes"

Pharmacies have to meet a considerable burden of minimum standards before they can open for business.

A licenced pharmacist must be on duty -- drugs must be stored in apropriate conditions of refrigeration etc. -- and unless they're selling to Rush Lambaugh they are not allowed to dispense $10,000 worth of controled narcotics to somebody with a forged prescription.
