I'll say it for you DaT.

Thank God for the democrats or we would have been at risk

As I stated way back in this thread, I disagreed with a company owned by the nation/state running the ports. But that was the only concern really, not that the firm was from the UAE.

Exactly. The GOP. So instead of going head to head with their own party, the administration made a call and said, "Hey, this thing just isn't going away. Do us a favor and just forget about it eh? We'll get'cha back. You know we always do."

This, and the Unocal deal, signals a new resurgence in protectionism that is only going to harm the U.S. and the world.

I hardly see the dubai/ports situation as the result of a protectionist attitude. I think it just had a, likely knee kerk, reaction of, "That doesn't sound smart.", which resonated through middle America and Congress saw it as an easy election year winner.

I would however like to see a new "Buy American" campaign though.

I don't see anything wrong with buying less chinese products and japanees cars.

I will still buy these goods, but if the US buys less, that's better IMHO...

You guys are a bunch of racist, fasist NAZI's. the people trying to take control of the ports, make more in a day then most of you racist loser make is a year. And you are acting like you have something to fear. This people are rich, good business men, and are trying to fill a need an america company isn't able to.

And here you are stereotyping the enitre arab race. Hey why don't be just consider arab, muslim, islam 1/4 of a human being. Why don't we extremination them from their land, enslave them for 400 year, create new jim crow laws to keep them in check, and go through the entire civil right struggle lol.

It a shame to see american acting like this. And you might wonder why the rest of the world hates us, who could blame them, we have, judge, and stereotype them.

oh blah blah blah, clarence. you and your racism card. we must have one HELL of a racist, xenophobic, simplistic, whackjob senate, then, huh? the house of reps are all KKK. the GOP are all clansmen, and the democratic party are actually NAZIS in disguise. ALL of them MUST be racist according to clarence - the authority on this topic. racists, dammit, racists!!

pseudointellectual losers pulling out the race issue at every given issue like this is inane.
people don't agree on an issue - must be racism. someone is shot - must be racism. they sky is blue - god must be racist.

get off your self-righteous soapbox, pal. you are ridiculous!

My only point is this: its easy to throw around the terms "racist", Jim Crow, etc. But to do so is to trivialize the real racial/religious/gender discrimination that is happening today, as we speak. Its all about perspective.

Holy crap dude. Taking the whole thing a bit personally huh? It's less a reaction to an Arab country than to one which 2 of the 9-11 mass murderes came from. It eas also a little wake up call to middle America; "Huh? You mean our ports are managed by companies owned by other gov'ts?".

And you know what? Don't come around here whining to me about billionaires losing out on a business deal. If I had my why, them and Bush billionaire cronies would have their wealth "redistributed".

Dude, call em what they are. They were and are terrorist. They are not simply mass murders, insurgents, freedom fighters, or any other glorified name. Terrorist.

You think "terrorist" is stronger than "mass murdurer"? I don't find that to be glorified in fact I specifically used that term as opposed to "terrorists" as I feel this administration has uttered the word so often it's lost it's meaning.

Well, maybe it is just me, but terrorist is a stronger term than mass murderer. The kids at columbine were mass murderers, Bundy was a mass murderer, as well as several other high profile individuals. I do not think they killed with the indisciminate views as the terrorist who blew up the USS Cole, or flew airplanes into buildings. I think the media waters down the ideaology of the individuals when they use terms other than terorist. Just my opinon.

My comment had nothing to do with a race card, but racism is clearly shown. We are lumping all muslim arab into a evil terrorist category. What happen to judgeing a man by the content of his character.

It has nothing to do with perspective, you are plain and simply ignorant, racist, and nazi's.

People are evil in america, and UEA, people are evil whether white, or arab, don't forget the ferderal building bombing.

Hyprocritcy, racism, and ignorance. I see why we can never have peace in the world.
