I think the circumstances are different in a school. Teacher=role model. Student=impressionable. Location=school, place of learning.
So a gov't leader is not a role model????
Those who want the leaders political favors are not impressionable?
Location- Gov't building, place where laws of the land are imposed

Those are similarities but then look at:

    1. You and I are adults (not impressionable children - I think )
    2. Govt. buildings are not schools (places of learning - Some would argue just the opposite with what goes on. )

Remember...it's a balancing test between 1st amendment and establishment clause. Plus...a line has to be drawn somewhere. The courts have drawn it at the schools (and other places.)

During the Clinton Sex scandals I heard Conservatives concerned about his role model concerning having affiars and oral sex and some Libs said it didn't matter because he isn't one.

With Bush, I have heard some Libs express concern of his religious outspoken beliefs for fear he would be a role Model. And haven't heard much either way from conservatives.

So basically it appears that a Gov figure is a role model if you are against his actions or positions. But isn't or doesn't really matter if you are for his point of view or support his actions.

Me personally, (beyond those who influence us on a personal or local level) ANYONE constantly in the news, newspapers, on TV, etc.... is a role model.

Lobbyists are pretty childish. And actually, it's the politicians who are impressionable...they give in to the lobbyists in exchange for money.

I would argue that usually that is where the laws are established...they are usually imposed on me where I live.

I know, I just find it silly what some want to argue about, so I turn their arguments back to them and watch them spin.

President Clinton was a roll model, oops I meant he wanted to roll in the hay with any model available. Seriously, yes he should be a role model

With politicians, those who want favors are going kiss **** to try to get their wish.
