I just got back from the movie. Very well done, exausting, but the story itself isn't on the same level as the Lord of thr Rings. I give it a 7 out of 10.

And I wouldn't take kids younger than 10 or 11.

I keep wondering why this movie needed to be remade. Of course, I wonder that about most remakes....like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I refuse to watch the new one...the original is still a classic. Why???

After the 1978 campy remake....Hollywood had to try to redeem themselves!

Haven't seen it yet to know if they did it.

I want to see it! My 11 year old daughter has already told me she does not want to watch it. -LOL

I actually do want to see it too. The good thing is, whether it is good or bad, I got a free ticket with an early Christmas present of the Jurassic Park trilogy DVD set.

I will give my "Official" review after I see it.

Saw it on Saturday, loved it! I thought it was exceptional, definitely not boring.

I'd pretty much see anything Peter Jackson feels he needs to do at this point in time, the man has a way with film. He doesn't have much respect for time however, so if you can't sit there for 3 straight hours, you might want to wait until it comes out on DVD.

The movie was easily as good as the original, far better than the remake. Sure, it might not be as good as the LOTR trilogy, but let's be honest, there was a lot less to work with from a script point of view. LOTR is a series of books, Kong is a screenplay.

There were lots of kids in the theater when I saw it, plenty younger than 10. No one cried. I wouldn't necessarily rule out not taking kids younger than 10, except for the fact that they generally can't sit still for that long. I swear I had a kid who missed his Ritalin dose sitting next to me.

Yeah, I thought it was great, too; I was surprised to find out how long I'd been in the theater. If Kong himself doesn't get a nomination for Best Actor, there is no justice - I was simply amazed at the expressiveness of his face...CGI is on the verge of replacing actors completely with believable digital substitutes.

Will digital actors make inane political statements?

That's not acting, though. That's just drawing. Do I see a new category?

Hey, the result is the same, if not better. Call it what you will...

And then they don't have to pay Tom $20 million per movie.
