    Who cares right?
Yeah, I know I'm the only "Trini" on this board but I just had to post this:

My country, Trinidad and Tobago, just qualified for the first time ever for the FIFA World Cup by beating Bahrain in a play-off.
Check out the match report and video of the winning goal.

If you know anything about T&T, you know about our Carnival. Well, the government has declared a national holiday tomorrow as we celebrate a "carnival" in November for the first time!

The closest we ever got before was in 1989 when the dreaded USA beat us by a single goal to "steal" our trip to Italy 1990.

Now I've got to save some cash for my trip to Germany next year!

    Congrats!!!

I'm not exactly Trini but i spent four awesome years there (went to Queens Royal College, Port of Spain). I didnt catch the game but you bet i got some calls about it, its been a long time coming. The next world cup should be really exciting.

Hey, what about those Aussies. Getting past Uruguay was a big task but we did it.

Thanks Mak! I have many good friends who went to QRC. I went to Fatima College and UWI.

Honestly, the two games against Bahrain were not of their best performance. We did play beautifully when we played against Panama and actually beat #5-ranked Mexico a month ago.

    Congratulations!

I watched the highlights on Fox Soccer Channel last night.
Wow! That was a fantastic match, down to the captain missing his penalty and the young substitue with mature composure creating history!

I'm sure this victory (not to mention our "loan" of Dwight Yorke to Sydney FC) is going to elevate your club football as well...

Past his prime but it is always good to see international players willing to kick a ball around in Oz.

No doubt. He's still got great ball control but lost all of his speed that made him deadly in the area...

I was living in England in 90 when the USA made it for the first time! That is exciting!

Now, what we need is a FIFA World Cup 2006 application for our Treo. It is a must have next year. Anybody know if there is anything on the works?

    Thanks,

    Al

    Exactly!
I expect that one or two will be out soon after the draw for groups on December 9.

Ahhh, what a team England had in 1990.

Gascoigne, Barnes, Lineker, Shilton, Waddle, Platt. Those were the days.

You guys call it soccer. It's the most popular sport worldwide. It's almost a religion in South America and Europe.

Check out the official FIFA website or the more interesting 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany site.

Dude, the World Cup is the biggest sport event around the world. It happens only every 4 years. So people go like crazy even if their team is not playing...
    Go Brazil...!!

''ONCE in a lifetime,'' Damian Snagg said. ''You only see this once.''

He was absolutely right. In Flatbush, Brooklyn, right there on the
television yesterday, Trinidad and Tobago was trying to qualify for the
World Cup. It had never happened before.

Trinidad and Tobago had come heartbreakingly close in 1989, however,
when Paul Caligiuri of the United States put the boot to the two-island
nation on the final day of qualifying.

Americans remember that day with a touch of sadness and guilt. Never
have we seen such sportsmanship as we saw that November day in Port of
Spain. The stunned fans, all of them wearing red, patted American
journalists on our backs, congratulating us, as if we had anything to do
    with it.

It actually cracks me up that in American football (aka Gridiron) only two players actually kick the ball (punter and kicker). And in soccer only the goalkeeper is actually allowed to handle the ball.

Which one do you think should be called football
