I have never been there before -- and I unfortunately will be getting in at midnight -- which means not getting through customs, baggage retrieval etc. until after 1 am.

Has anyone any experience with transportation at that airport at such an awful arrival hour ??

I'll be traveling with a bicycle and (lots of other crap) so I'm not sure if the taxis there are going to be large enough to accomodate it. And are the cabbies honest, and do they speak decent enough english ??

The shuttle buses might stop running by midnight so that may no not be an option -- but if anyone know anything more I'd be grateful.

What time do the currency conversion shops shut down ??

Any advice on electrical issues for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos would also be good.

taxis probably keep going all night or at least till the last flight..

Our hotel organized a 'limo service' (which turned out to be an old volvo 740..
There are minivan taxi's there too I believe..
Most people speak decent english (though with a strong accent) since tourism is one of the main sources of income..

As for money I find it easiest to just use the local ATM's on the airport.

Thailand's voltage is 220-240AC, 50 Hertz. The plugs in Thailand are not standardised there are at least three different types, some two pin, some three, so bring a universal adapter.

btw you should check out Siam Square and MBK shopping centres.

They have some realy nice food courts and really cheap cinema's.. which are nice since they show the movies in english and have good airco..
The one in Siam Square has a gold ticket service where you get a massage chair which massages you while you watch your movie
