Hi thought I would share this...T mobile will credit my account the difference in price of an unlocked 650 ($649)purchased from Palmone and the price of a 600 that T mobile sells. Actual out of pocket to me is about $245 for the 650.
Thanks to everyone on this site.

Is this only for new customers, or will they extend the same courtesy to an out-of-contract existing customer who is willing to enter a new contract?

Could you post more details. I'm very interested in doing this myself.

Yes, give us the details... I'm surprised about this since they don't support the 650. Everytime I inquire T-Mo cust service about the 650 they play dumb and (in a programmed response) say that they don't sell it and don't plan to.

Would love to know the details,I know that before I bought mine I asked about their plans, and they would continually tell me they weren't going to offer it,and don't plan to,or that they didn't know,or maybe-I got tired of so many different answers,I decided to go get an unlocked/unbranded myself.I am surprised about the credit-are they requiring you to change and/or extend your contract ?? Do tell...

Has anyone verified if this was true or not?

Went to a store Sunday and they offered me an un-locked Cingular 650, for $300. Does this sound ok, and is it something more people seen or heard about.

You went to a T-mobile retail store and they offered you an unlocked Cingular Treo 650? Maybe it's just me, but why would T-mobile sell Cingular branded products. I'll drop by my local retailer and see what they tell me.

Best I could get out of them was a $100 credit - but didn't have to get a new contract. I just told them I went out and bought an unlocked 650. I paid $465 for it on ebay, so if they are now crediting the difference between the 650 price and the 600 they sell for about $250, I'd love to see another $100 coming my way.

Let me know if anyone can confirm this is true. I doubt it. I have been a loyal customer for many many years, spoke with the highest level customer service and pushed as hard as possible to get the $100 credit.

Well, the store that I went to sold both Cingular and T-Mobile phones. Don't know how much it would be worth to pay for the 650, as the price dropped to $549. Is about $450 on E-bay still good or and then having to pay $20 to get it unlocked.

    Thanks Micael

I am going to drop by my local TMobile store to confirm this too. I will even drop by a cell phone reseller to see if they would sell me a 650 for a decent price better than $649 and $549.

Let me know what you find out. I went by my local store a couple of days ago and they just told me that they don't carry the Treo 650. I mentioned some of the deals that people listed on this thread, and he replied he hadn't heard anything like that. I'm hoping with all the talk of the new 700w prices for the 650 will drop after it's released. Then I might actually be able to afford a 650!

I spoke with a couple of T-mobile reps over the last couple of days and I have come to the conclusion that this deal really doesn't exist. T-mobile continues to tell me that they do not and have no plans to carry the Treo 650.

I heard different from a local TMO store manager. The rumor is that TMO is going to carry the new Windows version of the Treo when it comes out.As far as the 650, I was told to hunt down an unlocked Cingular model to use on TMO's networks.

The Windows version is neither EDGE or GSM - it won't run on T-Mobile's system.

I was just saying that I don't believe the claims that T-mobile is offering deals for individuals to purchase an unlocked Treo 650 and then give them credits to their account to lower the overall cost. Every T-mobile rep. and authorized dealer said no such thing existed. I believe it when someone offers me real tangible proof.

About a newer PDA for T-mobile, I really doubt there is going to be Palm PDA (Palm OS or WM5) sold in the near future. They are barely have EDGE up and running must less 3G speeds that other providers and cranking out. Right now it seems that T-mobile is just sticking with the Sidekick 2 and Blackberrys. They have an update to the 7100t, the 7105 that is coming out next Monday. I wish there was something better on the horizon, but I just don't see it. I'll continue to stick with T-mobile though because nobody else can offer me 3000 anytime minutes for $49.99.
