I use Chatter (excellent email program, BTW - far superior to VersaCrash) for email, VeriChat for IM, Blazer & Xiino for web browsing, etc. and they all connect fine through T-Mo data.

    Good luck!
are u using tzones or unlimited data ? i cant get verichat to work with just tzones. i think its a port 80 connection or its ports are blocked. any settings for it to work or only unlimited with verichat?

You may have difficulty accessing SSL (https) sites. T-Mobile has blocked certain ports at times in the past. If this is the case you will need to go with the $19.99 Unlimited plan which makes all ports available. I recommend starting with the lower priced plan and checking to make sure you can access the sites you need and then upgrade only if necessary. There is no difference in speed in most cases. Sometimes going through the proxy will be faster but it depends on a number of factors.

I use T-Zones... I've had it since back when they offered it at $2.99 unlimited. A lot of us had to get the special T-Zones build of VeriChat... I just emailed their support and they sent it to me! A link was also posted here, do a search for VeriChat and TZones and you should be able to find it pronto.

Port 80 is, in fact, blocked on T-Zones, but there is a proxy server you can use, which I do for light surfing.

Hope this helps! I've gotten so much wonderful information and help here, I am anxious to give back!!

I posted earlier about using Verichat on TZones...if you go to PDApps website and download the newest version of Verichat, it should connect just fine through Tzones.

Is this still working in NYC? I have tried everything I can think of (including spending an hour searching here) to get data set up on my 650. I have been subscribed to the $5 tzones for over a year and it works fine on my SE610. When I move the sim to my 650 it does the handshake thing but then promptly disconnects. The network pref is set to tzones and I changed the proxy setting in blazer to the 216.155.165.050 port 8080 thing. Has this been shut down in NYC? I am unable to connect to ANY type of site in Blazer.

Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

That's the odd part. It should do the connecting-signing_on-etc. and then stay connected with the two green arrows above the signal strength (bars).
Of the three "T-Mobile Internet" "T-Mobile VPN" and "T-Zones," T-Zones is the right one which you appear to be using.

You could try creating a custom network profile for T-Zones.
Create a new one Set the....
    Connection: GPRS
    APN: wap.voicestream.com
Leave User Name, and Password blank.

Try connecting to it. See if it connects and stays connected. If it doesn't, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe the old T-Zones that you have is just slightly different than the new T-Zones in some way that's not compatible with the Treo (and you'd have to cancel and re-subscribe to the newer higher price one.) I don't really know.

OK. Did a hard reset and tried it all over again from the beginning. Now it works. Strange. I dont think we did anything differently.

I don't understand all the problems, i was able to connect my Treo 650 unlocked (originally Cingular) to both my Windows XP laptop and to my MAC running Tiger via the Bluetooth DUN (I had a bluetooth dongle in my PC Laptop). I don't pay for their ridiculously over-priced 20 dollar a month internet plan because i think that is just a rip off. So i just pay for T-Zones and i get them working fine. Speeds aren't as fast as cable or DSL but they get the job done. I get faster than 56k connection with it. I'm willing to help you set it up if you have a PC or MAC (Running Tiger, i don't know how to configure Panther, though i hear it's easier). If you need help setting it up and you are on Tiger, check out how i got it configured here: http://discussion.treocentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=96245. Hope it help.

I can use the T-Zones proxy setup in Blazer to access any website, but how do I use the proxy with Chatter? I can create a custom T-Zones network connection but don't see any place to setup the proxy (other than in Blazer).

Just a note, I was charged for data... I was switching around data plans, on Sept 14 I switched from Unlimited Internet $19.99 to T-Zones $9.99... then on Sept 15 I switched from T-Zones to T-Mobile Web for $5.99 using the proxy, this seems to work. On Sept 14 I got like a $0.68 charge for data. Didn't receive any charges from Sept 15-18. Not sure why I incurred the Sept 14 charge.

I was advised today that I could not purchase the T-Zones for my Treo 600. I could only purchase the T-Mo internet for $20. When I go to preferences then network connections the only one that will connect is T-zones. All 3 of the network options - Internet , VPN, and Zones are all locked and cannot be modified. Any body have any ideas. I just want to get some sports scores, maybe the weather. I am not even trying to get email or IM to work.

    thanks,

    thanks,
I had the similar situation, was told by customer service that Treo 600 does not support T-Zones. I told them that I want T-Zones anyway, and they let me have it.
