I'm in Round Rock (suburb north of Austin TX) and just got done running multiple speed tests. It looks like T-Mobile has turned on EDGE for the new tower by my house. At work however EDGE does not seem to be enabled.

    200K tests: 73kbs, 102kbs, and 91kbs
    600K tests: 102kbs, 135kbs and 122kbs

Anyone else in the area seeing the same results?

    I got 77 Kbits/sec with a GC82 card in my laptop in the Boston area, 33 Kbits/sec with a Novatel G100.

So there's some EDGE in Boston, confirming the other poster. There's none in Chicago 'burbs.

    Update:
On the road, when I reached Middleton, MA, on i-95, the throughout-put dropped to 34-39kbits on the GC82 via DSLReports. So the EDGEness is lost.

I've done some speedtests yesterday myself...

I've gotten around 100kbit on 200k and 600k files from dslreports.com. This was near downtown brooklyn in NYC.

EDIT: One thing I just realized is that when I put in a friend's cingular sim /w edge, a little triangle (indicating edge) does show up instead of two double arrows. Right now, I still see the two double arrows/

I've had EDGE speeds in west philly for a month or two now. yay! T-zones is the best deal in cellphone data service. If only the software authors would write proxy support into everything. Is there any way to have a proxy redirect in the background?

My max speed so far with t-zones is 74 kbps with 100k, 200k & 600k in Northeast Philly. Just wondering why am I so low compared to all of you? Does it depends on how many tower/s are EDGE enabled?

Does anyone who are getting EDGE speeds here actually see the EGDE indicator or their treos? Or you just get the speeds only?

Yup, the 650 does. I believe it also states that in the manual, but then again, who here reads the manual?

i read the manuak months before the 650 came out, but I cant remember snything from back then.

I'm getting edge speeds, but I'm not getting any indication that the phone can see that it is on edge.

I have unbraded phone on t-mo.

I am currently sitting in Fulton Superior courthouse (the same as the shootings from last spring) in dowtown Atlanta, getting around 70kbps. I also get EDGE around woodruff park. I live in Sandy springs yet have not done any recent tests there. I work in NE Cobb and am not getting EDGE there.

It's all over Sandy Springs and Buckhead, although coverage is sometimes spotty and can vary from block to block. I first discovered it while I was visiting someone at Northside Hospital a couple of weeks ago.

Paris, would you be kind enough to confirm the proxy setting. I just switched to T-Zones Pro, the $9.99 plan (you lucky dog, you!), but I can't get the web browser to render any pages when I have the proxy set up. It just sits at "Sending" and never shows a page. I was using getmorespeed.t-mobile.com, port 8080. Is that correct? I don't know what part of Detroit you live (I'm in Rochester), but without the proxy setting I'm getting up to 90 kbits/sec. I'd like to try it with the proxy setting to see what I can achieve. Thanks!
