I have a VPN (Cisco 3000) which I can tunnel over port 80. I've tested and this works fine while tethered over Bluetooth. Will I be charged for this data, or since it's port 80 will it just look like http traffic as far as AT&T is concerned? I have an Mmode unlimited (24.99) plan.

I'm also curious if I can remote desktop (port 3389) through http, or view my webcam port 800 http. Blue users seem to be rare on here. I'm happy with my plan so far, but expect to get slammed someday. I'd maybe try it once and wait for your bill.

I have the unlimited plan on MMode and have not seen any additional billing as of yet. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but not yet. I have established VPS's with it and used a Remote Desktop emulator with it connecting to a Win 2000 server that runs a Smarterm emulator on an AIX box I support. Its slow and tiny, but I was pleased it connected. I have not rried the video stream yet. I get my mail several times a day and of course just surf in front of my peers showing off the Treo. (nothing like being on the good side of phone invy for a change). Should I ever get that first bill from ATT Ill make some excuse to my wife explaning it, and post here right away to let others know of the change.

In the meantime all seems well. I have hopes WiFi will happen in my lifetime, but this is ok till then.....

    FYI -

I have mine check for email every 30 minutes and have not had any problems with mmode billing. I wouldn't hesitate to check more often if you are only checking it several times a day.

I'm just GLAD we aren't on the Cingular orange plan! My one friend's bill is $1600 from getting slammed. The people who work in the Cingular stores (AND thier bosses) don't know their own terms of agreement. The salesman aren't even salesman, they are cash register operators. If they were salesmen, they would know what they are selling!
