Despite my frustration with CinguLiar I'm hesitating to leave because I fell in love with the GSM - SIM swapping with one phone number concept, and because I heard TMobile coverage is too spotty in my area.

If Sprint ever implements that virtual SIM idea I would dump CinguLiars.

Well, the store manager offered to take my phone back and give me a new one. She said "maybe" she could give me a car charger. I told her I'll think about it.
*That* much trouble for a car charger? blad!

They are not affair to see you switch anyway. Is not like T-Mobile is offering T650.

You can always do what a true American does and sue them.

The joke is over, yet the palced stays packed...

Macuser's 15 minutes were up long ago. As Neo said, "There is no spoon", and there was no porn on the Treo, either.

The reaction from Cing proves this even more. Lies within lies.

But like a train wreck, everyone keeps slowing down to see the bodies...

If you think I found a naked man and then showed my niece, or would make that up, I don't think it's me that has a problem.

    Thanks again...
And again, what makes us not believe the story is how you can give us a fast account of something that anyone else would make mention of a young girl seeing a naked man on their phone..... does that not seem odd to you that what stuck out in your mind that your wife was offended more than an underaged girl?

IF this really happened I apologiz, but I find it strange that what was forefront in your mind was that a grown woman was offended over a ***** (why?) but not an underaged girl and it seems your story is changing because of that. I'm not trying to beat dead horse... just trying to show you why it doesn't sound believable.

Anyway, this thread will soon die. I don't know why people are complaining over it. If people don't want to read it then leave. The ones that find it interesting are the ones that are participating. That's what the forums are for. Why does something have to be closed because a few people don't like the contents? Do you know much hard drive space a few pages of this text takes up? Not enough that you can even measure. So get over it.

My wife was mad because I bought the phone in the first place, then because it had the pictures which my niece saw. My niece didn't give me sh*t over the phone, my wife did and still does. I did get the Regional Manager's email and phone number yesterday and returned to the Cingular store to show the assistant manager the picture(no, the head manager wasn't there). I showed him the date of the message and he again said he didn't know how I got a "used" phone. Believe what you want, don't return to the thread if you like, but I'm pursuing this and some have asked me to report back. I really wasn't looking for 15 minutes of fame with this post, but rather some input as to what Cingular has done CS-wise for their mess-ups. That way I would have an idea what to ask for.

Here is another instance where this has happened. Although not with Cingular or even in the US:

I just got off the phone with the regional manager. Long story short: He offered me 1 free month of pda Data Service-->$40. Wow, they're cheap.

Maybe you weren't being ****-y enough with him.

What did they actually say about the porn? Did you mention that or just complain about getting a bad phone?

LOL. They offered me 2 months of free MW unlmited+100 voice minutes. But they conveniently did not notate my account. So now I have no proof anyone actually gave me those freebies.

Well, at least I got them to knock off $65 off my bill (we'll see how long this lasts, maybe 24 hours before the charges are back in my account).

I am finding that Cingular reps are trained to lie like dogs to get you to calm down and get you to hang up the phone.

That's $40 more than is deserved....

And if your wife was mad at you fo buying the phone, sounds like you have bigger problems - like a sucky marriage.

Wife controls what you buy and hassles you? Something has been checked at the door....(but showed up on the Treo).

if the future, when you scam, go straight to the executive offices o the carrier, not the stores.

(ex. the Sprint HQ in London, KY)

A certified letter to thw exec veeps with a cc: to papers and news works wonders.

Wow Mickey, you must be real popular with the ladies, especially the ones who don't think for themselves. I don't know the sort of women you consort with, but I prefer the type that can think and reason. I think I have a pretty clear idea of what type of guy you are. Thanks for the crude remarks.

    Obviously, I hit a nerve.
    Truth hurts, I know.

At least I am not the type of person to make up stories for attention, nor the type to try to "get over" on a carrier for a simple mistake that is immediately fixable.

You know nothing about me, but the admission that your wife was mad because you bought a Treo indicates some issues.

    Crude? Hardly.

    Yup, crude.

Dictionary.com lists crude as "Lacking tact or taste; blunt or offensive: a crude, mannerless oaf; a crude remark." http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=crude
The fact that you don't get it does tell much about you.

Most people, when attacked, react. Perhaps it's that I presume people on these boards are intelligent and mature, so I didn't expect cheap shots. That goes to show you, there's an a$$ in every crowd.

Feel free not to return to the thread since you think I'm a liar. Don't waste my time.

Selling a used item as new is against the law, because it's "fraud". Every U.S. jurisdiction has a statutory scheme designed specifically to address such matters. That's one of the reasons every state has a Consumer Protection Division within the Attorney General's Office.

You have no way of knowing if this is a pattern, or human error. But one thing is indisputable -- but for those pics, you'd have likely missed the "used" character of your purchased "new" item. This raises obvious questions about what goods other buyers are getting at the store concerned. To protect fellow buyers, it should be reported. Let the professionals handle it, and let the store provide their defense directly to that authority. If nothing else, they'll be d--- careful in the future, as they should be.

BTW, I concur with the earlier statements regarding press coverage, esp given the store's failure to keep its word by getting back to you, promptly. A tic tac toe game would yield my same reaction, again, because it proves this is a used item, which is not what you bargained for. The porn is what will interest the news folks.

Take it easy, kids. This is just a discussion forum, not a debate, or a peeing contest. No need to get upset over mere pixels on a screen. If you take things personally your feelings get hurt. If the other person is a jerk, it shows clearly, but it's still mere pixels on a screen.

Thank you, TreoRenegade & TonyH, for your comments. I was mad when I thought and posted about going to the news, but do you really think that it'll do some good? I think I will make a couple of inquiries with the Consumer Protection Division on Monday.

Mike, please stop flame bait like this post.
If you don't believe him, fine, use the ignore button. Or just ignore this whole thread.
Post like this just result in a flame war. You made your point and it is to the other readers to make up their mind.

    Macuser,

Obvious, humor isn't in your dictionary and your over-reaction indicates a lot.

Tool, I am sorry you consider it flamebait, but I call a spade a spade. There is some much bs that has marred TC over the years that someone needs to call out when people: 1) make very dubious claims, and 2) ask everyone how they can "get over".

If you want me to ignore this, fine, consider it done. (assuming no responses to me).

Freedom of speech, just watch what you say...
