Wonder how long till they just start shutting out T-Zones completely..
Everytime I log into t-mo it shows my treo
(which is unlocked and never bought from them or even told them I had it)

not to mention changing to the phone that i got free still leaves the avatar of my treo next time I log in back to the treo as my current phone.....

Sim swapping might be going away :-(

I bought my wife a Panasonic A100 and swapped the SIM into it. TMobile didn't seem to care when we told them. Afterall - in the long run...they want the monthly.

They must have some kind of radio connection to your phone. Check to see if you can find some kind of antenna or something sticking out. If it does that would be a sure sign. Maybe you can remove it or disable it. Try wrapping aluminum foil around it. That should do the trick.

My point is telling them I have a nokia getting my t-zones when the entire time the system shows the phone I am actually using.....

    My unlocked 650 is here.....
Tmobile identifies my nokia that they provided me......
Tmobile identifies my treo that is a now unlocked but previously tmobile locked treo 180

but my they can't identify...or it just isn't changing for my 650.....
maybe since it never was a t-mo phone they don't have the imei in a database to identify it.

Not sure if T-Mo can identify my Treo 650 but my SE T610 still shows in My TMobile page. I have the t-Zones plan ($4.99) and something I can connect but I have no problem using the proxy address with port 8080.
The weird thing is that I can connect using the T-Mobile Internet when selected in Prefs/Network !!!!

Even after I go on-line and switch my SonyEriccson T610 to a Treo 600 to look at the e-mail and internet setup, etc., I go back later and it's back to the 610, so I don't think they're monitoring

Stop these baseless rumors. I use the same Pocket PC phone ,SX66, on both networks (TMobile and Cingular). Neither carrier can tell what I'm using. When I call Cingular and ask what kind of phone I have, they say "V551." With T-Mobile they tell me "HP6315???"

T-mo cant tell what phone youre using. They can verify the IMEI number of your current phone wirelessly whenever you use it. If by virtue of the IMEI number they can figure out what type of phone it is then yes it is possible. But this is by no means automated and would actually be a pain to figure out.

And regarding the phone avatar on T-mobile.com, Ive gone from a BlackBerry 7100 to a Treo 600 to a Treo 650 and my avatar is still stuck on my BlackBerry. They have no clue what the hell is going on.

I can go into my TMo account and change phones at will. That doesn't mean much.

    Tmo Treo Enthusiasts-o

Tmo can seemingly only detect and chyange if you are using a phone they support. I.E. My old motorola MPX200 never appeared as my phone on my My-Tmobile Page. But ive had my Treo 2 days now and by the second day Tmobile had it listed as my phone. thats kind of creepy. Look, Paris hilton may be a dumb b**ch, but it seems nothi0ng precludes some tmobile employee from pulling off your phone pictures etc. After all if your phone can MMS and tmo can send msgs to your phone and pull youtr phone model from your radio signal. The moral of the story... Dont use your treo to take pictures of your <<insert body part>> or to take photos of yourself engaging in sexual acts... Dont save credit card info, common sense.

PS- thew MPX200 is a piece of crap! MICROSOFT OP SYS CRASHY CRASHY. I love my treo.

FWIW, mine still reads as T610 on the TMo site, and this is week 3 with the 650. I even had my T610 unlocked and told them I got a new phone.

I just got a Treo 600 from T-Mobile and it took their site a couple of days to catch up to the change. It had my old 3650 listed for a long time but then finally switched over. I wonder if they don't run a script every week or so that just checks the IMEIs that have been using their system and update the accounts with which they are associated. This way it wouldn't have to be a processor intensive sort of thing that runs continuously but a sort of maintenance routine that runs on the weekends when demand on the servers is low.

My take on the whole thing is that they won't block out t-zones use, just adding it as a service. If you have a Treo, you may not be able to "see" the option on the T-Mobile web site. If you add it under a different phone, though, you should probably still be able to have the option. It is likely that this will take care of most people using t-zones with their Treo and not involve some messy, system-wide blocking of certain IMEIs/accounts/etc.

Indeed they can tell what phone you are using. Its the same way a terrorist cell group overseas was tracked down. They kept switching out the sim card but using the same handset. They found them with hundreds of SIM cards but using the same handset, it was the handset info that they tracked them down with. You can do a google search on this, it was about a year ago in pakistan i believe. Kinda interesting.

    Seriously?? lol...

Oh, and, yes, T-Mobile can track the phone - it takes them a few days for their systems to identify your phone. When I started using mine, I called them on my 4th day (regarding the inability to send MMS messages) and the woman said, "so, it looks like you're using a Treo the system isn't telling me the exact model."

I just want to get this straight: you have normal web (i.e. not WAP) access through T-Zones using the proxy address?
