OK guys. What am I missing? I've had this $19 unlimited internet and Hot Spot access since December 2003. Of course, I share a plan with my wife with lots of talk time at $99 a month so that the $19/ month for unlimited internet and Hot Spot has been tacked on top of the bill. Last year you had to have a minimum plan (something like $40+/mo to get the unlimited deal).

I am either misunderstanding the excitement or I feel bad for not sharing the deal I've had for 10 months. Either way I agree that T-Mobile has the best prices to make the Treo work most economically for individual users.

    QUESTION:
Is the big deal that there is no minimum (phone/ talk minutes) plan required to qualify for the unlimited internet and Hot Spot access?

My t-mobile "my plan and services" page _still_ shows

    My current optional services
    Loyalty Minutes Free
    TM Internet & HS $19.99

I also took a snapshot... just in case!

I saw 4 new options for internet-
    Internet + hotspots 19.95
    vpn + hotspots 19.95
    Internet + hotspots + corp email 29.95
    vpn + hotspots + corp email 29.95

I could not add one of these and replace my existing $19.95 unlimited internet. I believe they are additive, requiring the 19.95 Internet to be in place first. Total- $39.90. I thought it was too good to be true!

On your list of options (online or on bill) does it also show as "TM Internet & HS"? If yes, that would be great.

I too could not remove my unlimited internet (GPRS) plan which is listed as "T-Mobile Unlmtd3 (see my post quoted below). I'm not sure it is additive. My "T-Mobile Unlmtd" was shown as an optional service, but it was not in the list of services I could check (or uncheck). So like you I have:

    "T-Mobile Unlmtd" for $19.99
"TM Internet & HS for $19.99

Once the "TM Internet & HS" becomes active I'll call to try to remove "T-Mobile Unlmtd".

I saw "TM Internet & HS" but there's no description of that plan. Are we sure it is unlimited? And do they give you instructions on how to setup your WIFI access?

I selected it but was unable to deselect my current unlimited GPRS access which is "T-Mobile Unlmtd" instead of "TM Internet".

hey all.. i had the same problem. I just called t-mobile and while on the line pointed out i was on the website looking at the 19.99 service of internet and hotspot bundled. I asked the woman if I could add it online and have her delete the service. she agreed! she deleted and i added.. all is good.

I take back my earlier comment. I couldn't make the change online, but I just spoke with a data specialist at TMO and they removed my $19.95 "unlimited internet" and replaced it with:
    VPN TM Internet&HS $19.99

She confirmed that it is the same price, same features, but adds HS service!

    That made my day!
    Thanks for the tip.

After I called three times and finally talked to a Tier 1 Data person,
they eventually found the plan for $19.99, deleted my Unlmtd
Internet Plan, and added TM Internet & HS. But it was not easy nor
    obvious to the support person...

What is strange is that the T-mobile website has changed all of a sudden!!!
Just a few minutes ago, I could login, see all the plans, click on them
to add, etc. (but not delete the unlmtd plan..). Now when I log back
in, I cannot make any changes anymore and do not see any individual plans.
But I can see that TM Internet & HS is there for $19.99 and Unlmtd Internet
    is gone!

    I guess I made it! :-)

I ran to the same issue....also talked to the rep he says it will cost me 39.99

Mods should move this thread out of the T650/ACE forum to a more appropriate venue.

Has anyone else that has successfully added one of the new plans noticed that even though they selected the VPN TM Internet & HS what is displayed on the My Plan & Services screen is TM Internet & HS (without the VPN). I can also no longer make changes to my plan online so I can't fix this assuming it needs to be fixed. Maybe you're only allowed one plan change per day? I guess time will tell...

I agree that this thread should be moved to a more appropriate forum.

I think you have the VPN if you asked for it. The short description just says TM Internet & HS, it cuts off the VPN part of it. When I tried to do that onlne, that's what happened (but I couldn't delete the regular VPN, so I had to call them anyway.)

I don't know about one change per day, but I also can't make changes to my plan right now.

When I get to the page where I can accept the changes to my plan, it shows both the unlimited VPN and the VPN+HS plans, which total $39.98. Nothing that I tried will allow me to remove my current unlimited VPN plan.

    Anyone else run into this?

I tried to remove TM Internet & HS and add the VPN TM Internet & HS but I can not do it, it will not take me back to the options page anymore.

I just spoke to a CS rep who removed the regular TM Internet from my account leaving me with just the TM Internet & HS option. I leveled with him and asked if I'm going to be charged $19.99 or $38.98. He told me that even though I selected that single option on the web, that on his breakdown screen he sees TM Internet and HotSpot as two totally separate options, each checked off totalling $39.98.

I told him that I was going to buy the new IPAQ (yeaaa right...) and that this was the only real insentive to do so. He appologized and asked if I wanted to keep it... I'm leaving it on my account. If it is a legitimate option then I will have no problems. Otherwise I'm gonna end up paying for one month of HotSpot. Worth the shot if ya ask me. I can think of much worse things to risk $20 on.

After reading all the posts I called and pretty much insisted straight away to be escalated to someone higher and after 2 transfers and 15 minutes on the phone I have now added HotSpots to my existing VPN GPRS access for no increase in price (19.99).

So to confirm all posts so far:
I logged onto my T-mobile online and saw the new plans available but due to the posts of being able to add the plan but not remove the old plan I didn't even bother to try, so I called CS. They also had the same problem (probably because they initially try to use the same web interface) then after being on hold for a while he came back and said it had been done. He confirmed it is all unlimited both WIFI and GPRS for $19.99.

Thanks for all the posts and WeeBit you rock!
T-mobile has the best data plans but coverage and speed could be better.

I have a dumb question, what does VPN mean, what does it do and do it want the VPN internet & HS 19.95 or regular internet & HS 19.95? Thanks

Just to confirm weebit and aussie....

I'm also a current Tmo unlimited plan user. I logged on to My Tmo plan and was actually able to uncheck the unlimited plan and check the "VPN TM Internet & HS plan". However, being a little bit obsessive, I too wanted to confirm unlimited GPRS and HotSpot.

I called up and had to walk the CSR through my Tmo login to show her the plan I was looking at. She talked to a data tech who only knew about the "TM Internet" ala an add-on data card. I politely asked to speak directly to another wireless data specialist. This one knew about the new plan and confirmed the unlimited GPRS and HotSpot. He confirmed my switch to the VPN plan for $19.99. He also said that there "might" be a delay in switching the data service in the next 24 hours (i.e., loss of data service at some point), but that he has not heard of any user issues thus far. He also mentioned that towards the end of September, I should look for further integration of text messaging into one of these packages to save a few more $s.

He then transfered me to a HotSpot specialist who was supposed to give me special logon info. When I got through, the HotSpot tech simply told me that to log onto HotSpot, use my mobile number as the user name and the last four digits of my SSN as the password.

I'll try logging on at my local 'Bucks tomorrow and send myself a few test messages (SMS/email) in the next couple of days to see if there are any problems, but it looks like a done deal.

Thanks again weebit! Thanks also to all other posters. Gotta love this site!
