    Check out Handspring's website!

Yip! Didn't take me too long to get in the line... I hope

Just a point of clarification to help people out when ordering the T600 for T-Mobile with an existing plan. You can opt for an unbranded version or the T-Mobile branded version. Stick with the T-Mobile version, it is unlocked and optimized for T-Mobile. I just got off the phone with Handspring and they explained that only the T600 bought with a new service plan for T-Mobile comes SIM locked.

Also, if you lack a serial number for the $399 upgrade, I recommend checking eBay out. There are several for sale at a reasonable price.

Rumor has it they work quite well.... not that I would ever use such a thing.

I pre-ordered before I hit treocentral this morning. What's the deal with the T-mobile optimized vs. un-branded? I did not come across such a choice when I went through the upgrade order. Did I miss something? Should I confirm with Handspring which I ordered? I intended to go with the T-mobile optimized version.

I'm assuming that the T-Mobile optimized is when you order as an existing or new T-mobile customer. Since this is how I ordered it, I'm not sure how to get the 'un-branded' one. I'm assuming that it was some other option at the beginning of the ordering process.

btw, there's a similar thread on the 600 hardware section:

    http://discussion.treocentral.com/tc...-t48146/s.html

Is it early March yet? I was 12 hours late to the announcement, I wonder how many are in front of me?

'The waiting is the hardest part.'

I just ordered mine too. The options are pretty much as follows (this is from memory)

    () T-mobile
    () Other GSM/GPRS

The second option is what people here are referring to as unbranded.

Thus ends the cycle of checking sites 4x/day to see if they're carrying it and thus begins the cycle of checking email 10x/day to see if the darn thing shipped. Does it ever end?

Has anyone received an e-mail from either Handspring or tmo announcing it...I remember signing up to be notified...but my e-mail box has showed nothing.

Curious if I am alone in not being notified.

In general, I have to agree with your advise, but...

What is specifically optimized in the T-mobile optimized version? Are the graphics branded for TMobile? Is there any other "feature" for TMobile? If not, then the unbranded version seems the better deal.

More then likely if you use T-Mobile then the Tmobile one would be your best bet byfar as it will have the tmobile APNs already on it and be fully configured for MMS. If you go with the non-branded one and have to setup all the tmobile settings manually it may not function correctly... plus i would assume support for the non-branded one will have limited support

I must be high or something, but I cannot find the upgrade button or link on the Handspring site? Can someone please help me locate it? Thanks.

Lets hope this is a good one. I have previously owned:

    Visor 8mb
    Visor Phone
    Prism
    Treo 180
    Treo 270
    Numerous Springboards (remember those?)

I had convinced myself that I'd resist the temptation when the T-Mo upgrade plan finally arrived, but for reasons of battery life alone, I decided to place my order.

Now the question is when will it ship? I'm not holding my breath!

My old 180 will be a backup for either my wife or myself.

Part of me is tempted to buy another so I can put in on Ebay and maybe make $100. We still have 2 or 3 valid serials we could use.

Same here... I checked TreoCentral, ordered the phone, then got the email. Hope we beat all those folks who don't check the sites or their email during the day.

TAKEN DIRECTLY from Handspring's website: "NOTE: Treo 600 smartphones with service from T-Mobile are network locked and can only be used with T-Mobile SIM cards and plans"
