Not sure that is always necessary as I have unlocked a T-Mobile phone without a foreign SIM.

I suppose I could go in a Cingular store and ask to borrow one...
You can still unlock the phone with your current sim card my bberry 7230 was unlocked 2 weeks ago.

    Dear XXXXXXX,

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile.

On October 27, T-Mobile will launch support for the newest handset from Handspring, the Treo 600 smartphone. Please keep checking our website, www.T-Mobile.com for current and up to date information on this product.

The Treo Central Community at http://discussion.treocentral.com/tc...?s=&forumid=58 and various other T-Mobile customers and others are interested in Handspring Treo 600 request that T-Mobile offer and support the soon to be released Handspring Treo 600 cell phone PDA.

When will the T-Mobile version of the above mentioned device become available? I heard a rumor that it will be available on 10/27/03?

Notice, that "Sean's" response made no reference to check Handspring's website although the TreoCentral rumor mills says that the Treo will be available from Handspring and not T-Mobile's website...hmmmm....

So my follow up question for T-Mobile will be any price breaks on upgrading to new handset. I've seen several postings TreoCentral where Sprint users were able to negotiate breaks on the monthly phone bills and also get perks related to Vision service, etc. I don't know if T-Mobile will offer anything to sweeten the deal...BTW, I cancelled my Hanspring order for the Sprint Treo because I was impatient to wait....status was showing as Order Received for 3 days....

All we're establishing by contacting tmo CS over and over again asking the same questions is something we already know: CS reps have limited information and virtually never give consistent answers, especially when asked about things they don't have full information on. I don't think there's any answer a CS rep can give that would really settle anything, because it could be easily contradicted by just asking a different CS rep.

I feel like Charlie Brown! On (t-mo) roll-out day I will be away from my PC, in a desolate enough area that I will be without any type of web access! It happened with the 270 and now again!
Sorry about the rant; just needed a few deep cleansing breaths.

do you think we can get an unlcoked phone on Monday? I nee an unlocked one because I have a T Mobile sim and Rogers ATT sim card.
  9. #29
If you have a T-Mo Sim, just order the T-Mo version and ask them to unlock it. They should.
  10. #30
i was told it was not easy to get the code to unlock it. Would they just give it. They should because I am still under contract with them so I am not leaving them. Does that help get the unlock code?
  11. #31
Your contract applies whether or not your phone is unlocked so unlocking does not affect their contract. Also, since the T600 was not subsidized by them they have no claim on it. I'd simply call and explain the situation. Don't take no for an answer. Ask to speak to a supervisor and explain that the T600 did not come from T-Mo to begin with and that you cannot and will not be breaking your contract. Even if you did you'd owe them money to recoup their subsidy.

It's easy to do, I've done it on two devices including a Treo 270. Send an email requesting it with the unit's IMEI number to simunlock@tmobile.com. You should get an email reply within a week with the unlock code.

That's one of the reasons I use T-Mobile instead of AT&T. AT&T flatly refuses to unlock their phones.

Thanks I will try that . I actually have one of there reps calling me on Monday because I had a problem with the GPRS on my 270 andthe problem was in there computer. They gave me 2 months credit butthey only issueed last week, and he called to confirm that it was done. He daid he will call me on Monday for the confirmation of the second credit, I guess he is the one to ask for the unlock code since he is being so cooperative. Is the code different on all phones.
  15. #35

  16. #36

Hey for those of you wanting an unlocked version of the Treo 600, check out www.expansys.us. They have actually been selling them for a while.

Scratch that, looks like the latest update to their site shows a 30 day waiting period, either they got a ton of orders and are back logged or they didnt arrive when they thought they would.
