I got an email from HS today letting me know that GPRS is now available for Cingular customers (old news).....

    Anyways,
If you are a Cingular customer and haven't upgraded yet and would like to try out the GPRS experience:

Cingular Wireless and Handspring.com are currently running
an offer for a free trial of the 1MB GPRS plan for three months
(overage charges for data use above 1.0MB apply).

They also mention that a Wireless Internet Express pay-per-use offering is also available. Wonder what the charges are for this?

The installer for the GPRS Software Upgrader has the warning:

"You must have subscribed to and activated GPRS data services with your mobile service provider."

I also recall that once you do the upgrade you can't go back to the old flash code.

So, after using Cingular GPRS for a while what if I don't feel that the added cost is worth it? Can I go back to using old-fashioned CSD as I do today with the upgraded software?

    Thanks!

    Of course!

You don't need to have the service activated on your account to upgrade your treo.
Even if you choose not to use GPRS it is well worth the upgrade for the revised and added features that it gives your treo.
