    Hi
I'm on Fido, not Rogers, but I saw some comments here somewhere that may help??:

    GPRS with T-Mobile

I added I-stream/T-Mobile Internet to my phone yesterday, and a couple of hours later I received several strange SMS messages (this indicates that the phone has been provisioned). After turning the phone off and on (very important), it signed on to the GPRS network automatically.

T-Mobile uses compression technology (VS Accelerator, aka SpeedWise) on port 80 that is currently incompatible with Blazer, so you need to use a proxy server to bypass T-Mobile's compression. One free proxy server is proxy.pocketdev.org Port: 9666, but please register at pocketdev.org before using it. Blazer's proxy settings are under Options > Blazer Preferences > Advanced > Set Proxy.

Another workaround offered by flight is to "use EudoraWeb or Xiino to load getmorespeed.t-mobile.com, then change the preference to turn the proxy OFF. I can then use Blazer for that session. This setting seems to reset from time to time, but the work-around seems to always work."

AvantGo and other Palm applications using port 80 suffers the same problem. Hopefully this will be addressed by when T-Mobile starts to officially support the Treo.

    GPRS with AT&T

aschobel reports that AT&T customers need to set the APN to "proxy" (without the qoutation marks), and leave username and password blank.

Rogers is AT&T basically, so this may help??

Well, drsnorlax posted this message (note that last sentence):

got Gprs working, but hotsyncing keeps reinstalling the patch and Rom update!
Has anyone else had this problem? I love surfing the net, but I wanna install some new programs but everytime I hotsync it reinstalls the GPRS update, then updates the Rom, and I have to redo all of the stupid beginner stuff, driving me nuts! By the way I live in Ontario Canada, and I got the GPRS update to work unde rthe rogers network, didn't really do anything after I installed it, pretty cool!

Explore to your Install folder, (C:\Program Files\Handspring\<your User Name folder>\Install. In the Install folder, locate and delete anything you do not want to install.

Now, you can go ahead and perform another hotsync operation.
