So much for the rumors that Rogers would follow the tiny lead set by Bell and Telus (who have suddenly discovered reasonable rates for the HTC Touch and Blackberry Pearl) in late December.

Of course, there are iPhone rumors for January (some say the 8th?) which would necessitate reasonable plans (if Jobs really is holding out for that). I guess we'll see.

Still, it angers me that every smart-phone I've ever had, I've had to remove the EDGE settings lest a stray click in error cost me $1000...

DRM in the US is falling faster than data rates in Canada, for CRTC's sake...

I just visited a Rogers store, and for smartphones - they still charge $25 for 5mb a month. $10 a mb for each mb over 5mb.

If you have one of their "not smart" LG phones, they let you buy a $5/5mb or $10/10mb plan.

Is there any other way to get into a data plan in Canada without getting ripped off? Shouldn't it be possible to get 400 minutes of calling time, call waiting, caller id, voicemail and 25mb of data for under $100/mo? Is there any carrier in Canada that can do something reasonable for $100/mo?
