If so, could you share your settings. I miss my mail function.

    Cheers

    Simba,

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, with tmo's blackberry plan, access to the email setup on their site is not available.

Hi what happens if you choose Unsupported Phone on the TMO website or even just some other phone...won't email settings appear? isn't the website set up to support whichever phone you say you have there?

I have the Treo 680 with T-Mobile and, as discussed previously in this thread, I initially had the full T-Mobile Internet plan, switched to T-Zones (or T-Mobile Web for $5.99) early this year, then switched to the Blackberry Connect plan in late July when TMO finished closing the ports. I also access my AOL IMAP email through Versamail on my T680.

I never set anything up on T-Mobile's website to enable me to send and receive email on AOL through Versamail. I simply went through the Versamail setup (using the "Account Setup" menu item in Versamail) on the Treo and, since I set it up when I got my T680 on December 1, 2006, I have never changed any of those settings. It hasn't mattered in the least which TMO data plan I've been on, it's always worked.

I had this same problems months ago (not able to send out email) and found the link that I posted from this thread. I set it up as suggested and no problems since.

Yup, just pick one of THEIR phones. I came in with one of their Free phones and used that to set up my email through My TMO account. (I'm glad I got that phone since I'm going to take it with me to Asia in a couple of weeks.)

Yes, I just found that out.
I only liked that because I could get notices paged to me when specific ones emailed me.

But that aside, I do like having the data plan work.

You have to set Web browser to use their proxy. (menu-E, Advanced, Set Proxy, Use Custom Proxy)

Has their been any updates to the issue of getting other apps such as Mundu and Google Maps to work with a TMO proxy?
  11. #251
I received several test versions of Mundu in their attempts to get it working over proxy, but none worked. I haven't heard from them lately, so they may have given up on it. They don't have access to the U.S. T-Mobile network over in India, so it hasn't been easy for them to work on the problem.

Google Maps doesn't support proxy. In my view, we were fortunate enough that Google deigned to release a PalmOS version of Google Maps at all. Adding support for proxy may be expecting too much. And even if they did add proxy support, my experience with other apps makes me think there's a very good chance that it wouldn't work with T-Mobile's proxy server.

It may be that T-Mobile is actively obstructing non-browser use of their proxy server. I'm not sure how they'd do it, but what makes me suspect that is the fact that DA worked over proxy for a couple of weeks after the change, then suddenly stopped working. I have 3 non-browser apps that support proxy, and only one of them actually works with the T-Zones proxy.

My quickie "research" yesterday supports this claim. I grabbed my uncle's SIM and dropped it in my 680 - voila - pocket tunes, dreamquest online play and google maps all worked as in the past.

I had my uncle get cs on the phone to find out what type of data package he had and we were told it was the $19.99 Blackberry "add-on" package with unlimited email and web access, just not unlimited text messaging.

Sounds to me this may be the package for me to consider...
