I see that neither Cingular nor TMO offer unlimited data roaming packages except for blackberries. Instead, they charge by the kb ($0.015/kb for TMO, $0.0175/kb for Cingular). Given that I use at least 500 kb/day for email, that gets expensive fast - almost $100/week while traveling.

Since I'm expecting a lot of overseas travel this year - maybe as much as 20 weeks - I really need to find a less expensive option.

Many of my friends have switched to Blackberries, but I really don't want to do that (because of the BB's really underpowered PIM and inability to do IMAP email).

So, does anyone here have any ideas about less expensive ways to use a GSM Treo for email while traveling?

    Thanks

So did I - and I was charged extra - about $1 per mb of data. Came to about $20-$25 over a two-week period.
